Stacking the Shelves #6

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews and is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

I will also be linking up with The Sunday Post, which is hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
This features a recap of my week, and also interesting posts around the blogosphere.

From the Library:

Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor - Had this on hold at the library, and finally was able to pick it up yesterday! You have no idea how long I've been waiting to finally finish this trilogy. I don't care if I'm late!

Unhinged by A. G. Howard - Usually I wait awhile (or a month haha) before picking up the second installment of a series. BUT I JUST CAN'T HELP IT. Who knows when I'll be able to read this? Though I have a bad feeling I'm not going to like the ending, and plus the third book isn't going to be released until 2015.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black - This is actually going to be my first YA vampire book since Twilight. Honestly. Actually scratch YA. I haven't read any vampire book at all since then.

Weekly Recap:

Monday: I reviewed The Art of Lainey, and thoroughly enjoyed it! I plan to read more contemporaries from now on, even though I did borrow a lot of fantasy books this week.

Tuesday: I shared my top ten TV shows, even though I haven't finished most of them! Who has the time to juggle reading, anime, video games, and TV shows? Not me.

Wednesday: I reviewed Splintered, a creepy fantasy retelling of Alice in Wonderland.

Thursday: I was tagged by Megan @ Adrift on Vulcan, so I shared my list of authors I auto-read/buy.

Friday: I ranted about Earth Star, the second book to Earth Girl. It's pretty long, but hilarious. (Wow I'm so modest lol)

News from the Bloggysphere!

Kristen @ My Friends Are Fiction shares how she can't remember details from books she read awhile ago.

Sunny @ A Splash of Ink rants about how over-hyped up books don't meet her expectations sometimes.

Jeann @ Happy Indulgence talks about being a completionist

Megan @ Adrift on Vulcan discusses the good and bad trends that appear in book synopsis. (Is there a plural for this word? Synopeses?)

The second Potato Podcast from the Social Potato is on the SAILOR MOON remake that's airing currently!

Jordin @ A Bottomless Book Bag urges everyone to make a suggestion to Goodreads about tracking rereads! Also, she recently guest posted about cliffhangers at Oh, The Books!

  1. Wow, I can't believe this will be your first vampire book since Twilight! I've heard Coldest Girl is a lot more darker, so hopefully you'll enjoy it more. Hope you enjoy the rest of your books especially Dreams of Gods! Thank you for sharing my post :)

  4. Ohhh, the Coldest Girl in Coldtown is really really good. I was dubious at the beginning, but the ending? Ohhh chilly and perfect. x) I adore the very socks off Unhinged. BUT THERE'S A CLIFF HANGER ENDING. Juuuust warning you.
Heh...you're doing little commentaries by your book pictures like me. ;) hehe. Brilliant minds think alike, right?

    1. Hahah thanks! It's just because I have a CHALKBOARD DESK that I haven't really been using lately, so I thought it would be cool to write on it while I place my books on it. Your little commentaries will always be better hahah :D

    1. Hmm, I'm not expecting anything, because I haven't read any reviews or heard anything about it. I'm more worried about that cliffhanger. But we'll see :)

  11. PFFT, you're not late to reading Dreams of Gods & Monsters -- I haven't even read Days of Blood & Starlight yet! Anyway, I hope it blows your mind, because there's nothing more disappointing than a highly-anticipated finale being a major letdown. It should be alright, though. The reviews seem pretty positive. :) And I'm looking forward to your thoughts on The Coldest Girl in Coldtown! So far the only books I've read by Holly Black were the Spiderwick Chronicles, which I enjoyed, so I'm hoping that her YA books are just as good, too. If you're looking for a good vampire series, try the Blood of Eden series by Julie Kagawa. :D

Thanks for linking up to my post here, Val! I think the plural for synopsis is "synopses." At least, that's what Google told me when I asked, and the red squiggly line doesn't appear when I use it. :P Have a lovely week!

    1. I hope it's FREAKING AMAZING! I'm planning to read that next, even though it's around 500 pages. And WUT. I had no idea Holly Black wrote the Spiderwick Chronicles. I think I watched that movie on a plane, but that's it. THAT'S IT. Never read it. And I've heard of that Blood of Eden series, I'm scared to try it because I'm not sure I'd like it, but oh well.

And wow, synopses. That's so much more common sense than I thought it would be :/

  14. Oh wow! FABULOUS haul Val! <3 I read Splintered a few months ago, and I absolutely loved it, but I keep putting Unhinged at the back of my TBR pile for whatever reason. And I've heard nothing but wonderful things about The Coldest Girl in Coldtown! I just realized it's a vampire novel...#Fail ;)

Thanks for sharing and happy reading! <3

  16. Yay, thanks for linking the Potato Podcast, love :) Hope more people will discover it and join us in our.. errr... rambles. LOL!

In any case, you should definitely check out Julie Kagawa's Blood of Eden series! It has vampires but the vampires there are pretty scary, although they can go on rather cheesy monologues and metaphors about the world and how it's all a song (of death? lol). BUT. They're scary. And they don't sparkle. And it's awesome.

Yes I have my eyes on the Blood of Eden series! Though I have to be in the vampire mood to read it.
