Top Ten Tuesday #19

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Top Ten Favorite TV Shows

You know, I used to hate watching TV shows, but ever since being introduced to Netflix in college (the worst procrastination tool of all time), I've been discovering more and more BEAUTIFUL and WONDERFUL shows to fangirl over. Or just watch. That's cool too.

Unfortunately, Doctor Who and Supernatural are not on this list, because I haven't watched them yet. Same with Attack on Titan. Sorry guys, I know I'm a disappoint to all! Just kidding.

WOW WAS THIS EVEN A SURPRISE? NO. Sherlock BBC is my first British television show, and it rocked my socks off. My friend and I marathoned the first two seasons, and then proceeded to sob over the cliffhanger. Now I'm waiting for the Christmas special, along with the next season, which probably comes out a year from now.

And then there's Futurama, which I can't exactly say why I like it so much, but I just do. Maybe it's because there actually is a plot, even though it's pretty random.

AND THEN THERE'S THIS GEM. Bob's Burgers! A show where you actually use satire and jokes in a funny way without offending anyone. AND THEY THOUGHT IT COULDN'T BE DONE. Four for you Bob's Burgers, four for you.

So no, I haven't finished Psych yet, but when I discovered it, I just couldn't stop watching it. Definitely another great detective show. And plus THAT'S SAM FROM HOLES. You know who I'm talking about.

BLAST FROM THE PAST.
My very first anime (that I actually watched in French) was Cardcaptor Sakura. And it's still my favorite to this very day. I remember my mom used to catch me watching it on my laptop throughout middle school, when I decided to rewatch it all.

AND THEN Teen Titans! Another childhood favorite! Also used to watch reruns of this on TV, even though I knew what was going to happen. I still don't forgive them for canceling the next season (And no to Teen Titans Go, just no). But this show was gold. IT IS STILL GOLD.

So I never actually finished the second season for Once Upon a Time, but the first one was AMAZING. Being a huge fan of Disney, there was no doubt that I wouldn't love this series. Sadly, I ended up not finishing because, well, of other TV shows/anime/books/LIFE.
Same with The Office. Which I desperately love and want to continue watching, but I just don't have the motivation too. This show is absolutely brilliant and hilarious, and Pam and Jim are my OTP 5ever.

Unfortunately I don't have cable, so I could only watch these shows either online, or in someone else's room. Though I did get to about 6 seasons of Big Bang Theory, which is pretty impressive.

And then there's Modern Family, which I try to watch whenever it's on somewhere.

This list made me realize how many shows I actually have to finish, but it's just so much effort! And then there's also Doctor Who, Supernatural, and GoT that I have to get my hands on as well. So far, I've only caught up with Sherlock, and honestly how easy is it to that that. But then when it comes to animes or cartoons, I'm on top of it.

You don't want to know how many anime series I'm currently watching hahahahha.

Tell me your favorite TV series! Link up your TTTs below :D

Aha and Big Bang Theory is just one of those shows you watch when there's nothing on. I swear they marathon it on tbs every day

  4. WHAT ARE YOU EVEN SAYING YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED SUPERNATURAL? GO. GO. GO. IT IS THE BEST SHOW OF EVER. Okay, granted, it's actually the really only show I've ever seen. I only just started watching tv series this year!! But I 'm so so so addicted so supernatural...*Sigh* it's a wonder I got any reading done. OH and I started watching Sherlock. I love Sherlock. My friend swears by Psych so I would like to try it too. Hehe.

  5. I've stepped away from tv and movies for so long that I need some new recommendations. Thanks for sharing these. I'm taking notes today. (Though I will say that if you haven't tried it, you should pull out a Downton Abbey and see what you think. And thanks for the rec for Bob's Burgers.)

And, since I'm not really in a position to recommend tv or movies, I decided to venture off on my own this week and post about mood-boosting books: Be-Happy Books.

  6. I think I've only watched random episodes of Big Bang Theory because of my friend who is an avid fan of that show. I think it's a very funny and sassy? :D Haven't watched any ep of the shows listed here, but I would love to if given the time :D Great picks, Val! :D

    1. Haha that's just how it's supposed to be. And it is pretty sassy. I think I only like it because of Sheldon, and also because I sometimes understand the jokes :/

  7. I've only seen one episode of Psych. The one where they had a huge Twin Peaks reference because I love Twin Peaks. Hahaha! But I might look into that one soon. Great list! :)

  8. I haven't seen a lot of these, but I did love Once Upon a Time and The Big Bang Theory! I watched the first season of Sherlock, but I really couldn't get into it. I think it was just too technical for me. I don't do very well at paying attention while watching TV (example: I'm watching a movie I have to write a paper on for school right now in another tab on Netflix).

    Here are my Top Ten!

  13. Awesome list! And yes--Netflix is a college student's worst enemy (well, one of them). :P I procrastinate so badly because of it. Once Upon a Time is one of those shows that I loved in the beginning but have slowly stopped watching altogether. I don't know why, since I LOVE fairy-tales. I really want to try to get back into it, though. Modern Family is kind of the same; it's funny, but it's hit or miss when I watch an episode.

  16. I swear, college is the best time to rediscover TV ;) I LOVE The Big Bang Theory, and I must admit to kind of getting into Futurama a bit too. I tried to watch The Office (because living right outside of Scranton, it is like, a sin not to ;) ) but I just never got into it. Great list!

    1. Yeah I definitely got into Futurama. I remember being younger and wanting to watch it, but since I didn't have cable or Netflix at the time, I couldn't even get one episode in.

  17. Sherlock is one of my favorite shows too. It is just so good! Once Upon a Time is a great show. I love how all the different fairy tales tie together. The Big Bang Theory is hilarious. I love to watch that when it's on tv. :)

    1. YES TO SHERLOCK! I keep on asking myself why I dropped Once Upon a Time, ugh I need to pick it up again haha.

    1. YES TEEN TITANS WAS DEF THE BEST. I started watching it in elementary school haha. And Bob's Burgers is gold!

  21. Gah, I do need to get to Doctor Who and Supernatural soon, too! Everyone around me has been raving about them both so much that I feel like I'm missing out on something huge. BUT WOMAN, YOU SHOULD BE WATCHING ATTACK ON TITAN RIGHT NOW. PRIORITIES! But -- no pressure, you know? ;) Anyway, it's embarrassing that out of the ten TV shows you listed down here, I've only seen two of them, and even then, I've probably only watched like two episodes each.

    1. My gosh, I want to watch Sherlock so bad. Mostly for Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch, but my friends have been gushing about Moriarty as well, and I'm all for awesome villains. And generally, the show has been getting a lot of positivity from the masses.

    2. I have no idea why I never thought of watching Futurama! I mean, I've watched Family Guy and The Simpsons, but for some reason it just never crossed my mind to watch Futurama. And I call myself a sci-fi geek. Psh! Glad that a fellow sci-fi geek enjoyed it so much, though!

    6. Teen Titans! That show brings back so many good memories, I used to LOVE it when I watched it while growing up, but then my parents decided to stop getting cable, which meant that I couldn't watch a lot of my favorite cartoons like Kim Possible and Totally Spies. D; My favorite character will always and forever be Raven, though. DAT CLOAK.

    7. Ugh, yeah, life can be such a bitch sometimes. Another good blogger friend of mine loves OUAT, so it's yet another TV show on my list. Plus, Sebastian Stan is in there and I can never say no to him. ;)

    9. SHELDON. That is all.

I know my TV series experience is so lame. I wish I had more time and less school so I could just waste away the hours watching episode after episode, while still juggling my anime shows as well, but nope. Life is hard. (Gosh, this comment is so angsty, haha!)

    1. GAH I also need to watch Doctor Who and Supernatural! AND I'M SORRY I WILL GET TO ATTACK ON TITAN. It's just that I have 10 anime shows I'm watching at the moment and I really don't want to add to that pile BUT I WILL SOMETIME NEXT WEEK.

      Go watch Sherlock now.

Futurama is definitely a great and fun show, and personally I don't think it's that offensive (what do I know I haven't analyzed it). But definitely great for sci-fi :D

TEEEEN TITANS! And hey my parents stopped getting cable too :( luckily I watched every episode before then

Yeah, there's no way I can start a new tv show with all the anime I'm watching now too. NO WAY. I swear we're like twins or something.
