I seem to somehow skip all the months, and now we are in May. Well, technically tomorrow will be June, AND IT WILL REALLY BE SUMMER. I am not ready. At all.

An Innocent Life #20: Getting My Life Back Together
There’s a reason why there’s wine in this graphic, and that’s because I NEED it. Life has been a bit too hectic recently, but I think everything will go back to normal once I submit things for this grant I’m working on.
Please look at my precious child, who gets better healthcare than I do.
October has NOT been a great month to be. My wallet got stolen AND my laptop decided that this was the time to die (though to be fair, I should have expected it because it’s been almost six years, but still). So I not only did I have to replace all my credit cards, but then right after I had to replace my laptop. And get all my files back.
ROUGH LIFE.
Anyways, life moves on. Though I am very excited for October to be over and done with.
Also, I’m currently at Shannon’s, because it’s my Fall break. Not that I am getting much of a break haha.

I haven't been reading as much, nor have I been doing anything other than playing video games or working on all my projects. But those will soon come to the end, and then I will be back. This happens every one or two years, so I am not at all surprised that I haven't been able to keep up with everything in the blogosphere lately. Like those comments I need to reply back to. That will happen soon. Better late than never right? Haha.

An Innocent Life #18: What Is This Motivation You Speak Of?
I am a very tired person.
It's almost come to the point where I am too tired to come up with posts, or even read and review certain books. But I am slowly chugging along, week after week. I look forward to the weekend every Monday! And next thing I know, it's Sunday again! How does that happen?

And as amazing as it was, I'm not sure I would wait that long again. Also I'm pretty sure I cut almost half the line to get in? Who knows. But it was fun, even though a couple people fainted around us. Who knew it could get to 80 degrees in November?
Like I mentioned before, life has really gotten to me. And I don't think it helps with what happens on Twitter, which is a reason why I don't go on as much as I used to. Mainly because I do not have the energy to get involved. It's also made me realize how I need to view blogging as a hobby, and not as a job. I didn't really do that in the past, but there have been moments where I get pressured to read and review certain books. I think it helps that I have cut down on my requesting, like I only have three to review for November! Yay! Isn't it weird how we all want the shiny review copies, but then get so burned out by them? ANYWAYS.
I hope you have had more motivation and inspiration than me! I plan to be around, hopefully. Thanks so much for continuing to read my blog!

I am always really excited for the fall, because it gets a little bit cooler, there's pumpkins and pumpkin spice lattes and pumpkin flavored cookies and pumpkin candles. PUMPKIN MUFFINS. Everything is a pumpkin and it is wonderful.

Grad school is a little bit hectic, but I'm absolutely loving it. At times. The social life is great though. I feel like I am going out at least once or twice a week. I HAVE FRIENDS. Really my main obstacle is coming up with a first year research project. But now that I have narrowed it down to an idea, I'm hoping I can stick with that!
Unfortunately, I've had less time to do, anything really. Though I guess it's about the same as college/undergrad, so not that much difference. I am currently reading Replica by Lauren Oliver, and do you know where the main character lives? Chapel Hill! Where I am! Right now! (Don't stalk me). So that was a nice surprise!

Huge changes have taken place in my life, and one major one has been the start of my Ph.D. program. You know, the one that by the end of 5 years I'll be a "doctor"? Hopefully I'll still be blogging by then, haha...haha.

I participated in the #ReadThemAllThon this month! Did I do well? Well, kind of. I did manage to evolve my Oddish into a Vileplume, but more on that later. From this pile, I read two books. Whoops.
Tonya @ LilyBloomBooks gives us the skinny on FTC disclosures, like endorsing products on your instagram (or booktube, blog, etc.). She also asks whether you review every book you receive.
Alexa @ Words Off The Page guests posts on Novel Ink, and talks about being Korean American and what that means in regards to mental illness (so relatable to me, and that other post I wrote for #Shattering Stigmas)
Vlora @ Reviews and Cake wrote about whether you like humor in your books featuring mental illness on It Starts At Midnight.

Let's see. First off, I just started my grad program in Psych & Neuroscience. More specifically I'm in the Cognitive Program because brains. I have an office that I share with another graduate student, and I also take a couple of classes. I TA as well, because that is where I get my money from. You know, the money to buy food, books, a cat.
Surprisingly, it was easy to adopt at the animal shelter. Plus there was a deal where I could pay any amount of money I wanted for said cat, and any adoptable animal. I did end up splurging a little bit on the tracking device, the bed, the very expensive cat litter because Shannon told me that the cheap stuff does NOT work (Thanks Shannon!). Honestly, I would have gotten a dog, but I have no time at all, and I rather not spend my time worrying about not being home all the time.
So yeah! Overall I think grad school is the perfect choice for me, but then again the real work hasn't started. I'll probably get by somehow.

Fine, I am pretty excited. I can't wait to buy furniture, decorate my new place, just settle in. I already packed up all of the books I am taking, so packing is 1/3 done (I mean basically right?).

An Innocent Life #14: More Pokemon & Readathon Books
Hello there!
Having experienced now 2 weeks of Pokemon Go, the Make Me Read It Readathon, and my vacation from vacation, you could say I have a lot of to talk about. Too bad! I have nothing for you.
Having experienced now 2 weeks of Pokemon Go, the Make Me Read It Readathon, and my vacation from vacation, you could say I have a lot of to talk about. Too bad! I have nothing for you.
This year, I read three of my Make Me Read It Books! That ended up being The Winner's Crime, Carry On, and The Knife Of Never Letting Go.
Although I didn't mind reading The Winner's Crime, I felt that it was a little boring, setting up stuff for the finale. Though from the ending, I can sure tell that The Winner's Kiss will be epic. On the other hand, I ended up having so many problems with Carry On. I ended up getting an eARC of it from Netgalley (it was Read Now), and the formatting just wasn't that great. But you'll hear more about that in my review.
But oh man, The Knife Of Never Letting Go was freaking fantastic. Sure, I felt dead by the end, but it was totally worth it. Like wow I was just not expecting how amazing it was (ok that's a lie, I definitely expected it, but this just exceeded those expectations).
Again, thank you to everyone that participated!! I hope you all had fun (even with the release of Pokemon Go HAHA)

After chilling in Boston for two weeks, I'm back in Florida again. Mainly getting ready for the big move that will happen in August. I'll have to decide exactly what books to bring with me, and what to leave at my parents. It's going to be hard.
So it's been about 2 weeks since Pokemon Go came out. I'm currently level 17, Team Mystic, and have caught 411 Pokemon. And of course, still nowhere near catching them all because all I see are Pidgeys and Rattatas. Gah.

I'm currently back in Boston visiting my friends for vacation (my vacation away from vacation). I don't know why I am always so busy, but I have Pokemon Go to blame for that. If you don't know what Pokemon Go is, it's an app where you can catch Pokemon in the real world! It's been on my radar since 1994, so obviously I am very excited about it.
Because it's in the real world, I've been walking around a lot outside (surprise). And just hanging out with my friends in general doesn't leave me much time to...well do anything else really. I'll catch up later, one day.
Note: I named some of these Pokemon. No there is no Pokemon named "Krusty Krab"

An Innocent Life #12: And It's July! Wow!
Man, July is already here and what have I been doing? Nothing. Just kidding I have been playing video games all day. Seriously. I already need a new game because I finished Fallout 4 and I cannot get over it.
I bought this beautiful new planner from Anthropologie (yes, THAT store that sells super expensive table cloth clothing) because hey, maybe I should get my life organized for graduate school? No but seriously, I couldn't resist this because it's filled with random art on each page. There's one page with cats all over it. CATS! I bought a very nice set of pens that will be coming on Sunday.
I have a lot of goals for July. One is to post at least one new photo on instagram every day. I have unintentionally committed myself to this flower competition between Aentee and I. She's upped me by owning a flower crown, but LITTLE DOES SHE KNOW I WILL GET A FLOWER WREATH OF SOME KIND. At the store. When I go back. (I don't even know what I would do with a flower wreath).

Let's see. I went on a much needed shopping trip today, which resulted in the goodies above. The last few weeks have been spent by the pool, reading, drinking alcohol. Drinking so much beer that I am no longer carded (whoops). I mean come on, would you resist this frozen green deliciousness?
I plan on getting this tomorrow. Again.
Other than that. Not much going on in life. I have officially cut ties with my former residence, because I finally got my security deposit back from my old apartment. One more month before I move to my new apartment! Woo.

An Innocent Life #11: Disney World, Fallout 4, And It's Similarities To The 100
Hi! I've been so much more active because it is SUMMERTIME and it makes me happy. I have also been posting more (unless I'm pooped) and playing a lot of video games.
I'm also participating in my first Instagram book photo challenge, for June. Actually, I am doing two of them. Sometimes I do both in one day, sometimes I do one, sometimes I'm a bum and don't do anything. But it's a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be, and even though some of the prompts are hard (and my dad CONTINUES TO JUDGE MY BOOK PICTURES. I'M LOOKING AT YOU DAD), it's worth it!

Does anything really happen in my life anymore? Nope just small stuff! My most recent trip was going to Epcot and Magic Kingdom in Disney World. My parents only live two hours away, and because we're (technically they're) Florida residents, we get a lot of discounts.

Other than that, I have read many, many books. I have caught up to my Goodreads Challenge (although sometimes I am still 1 book behind). I have posted a lot of reviews. Eaten a lot of popcorn (Dad can attest to this).
I also bought my first video game of 2016 (yes I know, it's already June). I have been playing Fallout 4 almost every day. At first I was dying a lot, but then over time I got stronger and just better at playing (shooting more chaotically more like it). Also, I made the greatest revelation of all time, in that Fallout 4 is basically the video game version of The 100. First off, the player is stuck down in a vault for 200 years before coming back up to a radiated Earth, due to nuclear warfare. There are groups such as raiders, supermutants, and this bigger one called The Institute. I even spotted a two-headed deer!! SEE THE RESEMBLANCE*
*I've only watched 8 episodes of the 100. Shannon probably thinks I'm a weirdo. ALSO FALLOUT 3 WAS MADE IN 2008 SO THE 100 TOTALLY COPIED OFF THEM. (Just kidding the plot is completely different)

An Innocent Life #10: I Have An Apartment!
Hello there! I am officially alive, and ready to party. Somewhere.
I have been waiting all May for Outrun The Moon by Stacey Lee. Mom was really surprised and happy by how the author is Chinese.
I'm also reading A Court of Thorns and Roses because I am tired of being left in the dark as to everything that's going on! Sure, some may say that I'm better off being ignorant, but ah well. I bought it such a long time ago, might as well get to it now! (But let's be honest, probably won't get to ACOMAF until 2018)

I just came back from getting an apartment for grad school in North Carolina!
So much room in my little apartment! Everyone should come visit me, ahahah.
Just kidding. But I seriously did get a really nice apartment, which came with a student discount (woo!) so I was pretty lucky. And the unit itself is completely renovated and new, honestly I'm wondering what exactly the catch is. I guess I'll find that out in August haha.
But for now, I'm bumming out at my parents'. Reading, playing video games, doing absolutely nothing until I have to. BE JEALOUS.

An Innocent Life #9: Hello, It's Been Awhile
Hi! I am alive! For now. I took a well needed hiatus because it was the end of the semester and I had a couple of things (major) I needed to wrap up. And now that's done! Hopefully. Every time I say I'm finally free, it bites me back in the butt.
I am SO CLOSE to finishing The Raven King! The reason why I haven't read it all at once. Well, that is due to papers, yay.
I'm hoping to finish it tonight? Though I am really tired. I cannot wait for this series ender to wow me. Also, this is the first series I will have finished since 2014. Whoops.

Sorry guys I have nothing for you in regards to links! I have been NONEXISTENT when it comes to commenting and blogging, as you know.
The semester is over.
My undergraduate career is over.
Maybe.
So I may have agreed to receive feedback for my Linguistics paper on Indonesian, because apparently my professor thinks it would be good idea to submit it to the undergraduate journal. After she looks at it first.
So technically, I may not be done. But I will pretend that I am done. Ha.
Also, BEA IS ALREADY NEXT WEEK! How did time pass by so quickly? Have I packed my room? No! Have I packed for the trip? No! Am I going to be busy for the next few days? Yes!
(Again, I know I say this every time, but if you know a book will be at BEA and you want it badly, just message me and I'll see what I can do.)
BUT OKAY freaking out now because it actually still hasn't hit me that I am done with classes and papers (technically) and I no longer work as a research assistant. Which means I will no longer be listening into babies' lives and family drama. I have seen pretty much all 46 babies grow from 6 months to 18 months, and now I'M DONE. Maybe I'll come back to Rochester 5 years from now and stalk all of them.
Speaking of Rochester. I really only have 5 days left. I'm leaving for Chicago on Tuesday, and I graduate on Sunday, so it's just scary to think I will be moving! I am excited! And also sad because I liked Rochester other than the cold. Can you believe it's still only 60s here? *sobs* But hey I'll be in Florida by next week so it's all cool.

An Innocent Life #8: When Will The Semester Come To End??
Hello there. I am currently drowning in everything I need to do before I graduate college. But hey, at least I don't need to worry about my future, right? (Just the future of the country, I suppose).
I finished reading The Last Boy And Girl In The World! It was not about the making of little babies to repopulate the Earth.
But I accidentally created an artistic photo, in that the blanket I used symbolizes the flooding of the town, Aberdeen, from the novel. MUCH ARTIST VAL. SO TALENT.

ARGH. LIFE IS HARD
Let me tell you a fun, stressful story. Back in late February, little Val was applying to present at an Undergraduate Research Exposition at her university. It would take place on April 22nd. The deadline was March 1st, and the people in charge promised a notification on March 15th.
Fast forward to March 15th. No email. People in charge sneakily go on the website and change the notification date to April 1st. Fine.
Fast forward to April 1st. People in charge email apologies, saying that haven't gone through all the applications yet and need just a little bit more time.
Fast forward to APRIL 13TH. With less than 10 days to go, Val has been invited to present a poster. Too bad Val is posterless.
Fortunately, I do have a poster now, and I presented it. It was stressful to come up with, and I had to get it edited multiple times. But it was sooooo much better than what I expected. Like I actually talked ENGLISH. And didn't let my shyness get me! (In the end I didn't need a shot of liquor, haha).
Look it's me! I should have won an award for best dressed or something.
The semester is almost at an end, so I mean....by May I should be HUNKY DORY. (If I had a dollar for every time I said I wouldn't be busy by a certain time....le sigh).

An Innocent Life #7: Surgery & April Fool's (No, Those Do Not Go Together)
Hi! I have been home for a week now, basically skipping school and doing nothing. And what have I been doing exactly? Reading, shopping, playing video games....oh and I got my surgery done today! More on that later :)

I think it is safe to say by now that yesterday's post about a debut event on Turnt-up 21er's was an April Fool's Day joke. Glad to see all the great comments on both my post and Shannon's, but I don't know WHY people are entering the giveaway hahahahh! It is quite hilarious. I don't know if you know, but April Fool's Day is my favorite day of the year. Last year, I reviewed a fake book, The Innocent Centaur #2, and everyone loved it. Shannon convinced me to go along with this idea, and I admit, we have outdone ourselves!

So. Surgery. I think I have talked about this enough, but it wasn't anything major or anything. Just to clear up all that blood from my second uterus. The surgery itself wasn't bad, seeing as I only have minimal pain, and thanks to the wonders of drugs, I can live a pain free life.
The worst part of the surgery wasn't even the surgery itself. It was just the whole peeing in a cup ordeal. I mean hello, hasn't anyone taking into account that I have one kidney? If you don't tell me to eat or drink after midnight the night before, there is no way I will be peeing in your cup, thank you very much. (In the end they had to make me urine ha...haha. THEY EVEN COMMENTED THAT I HAD BARELY NONE).
From now on, I will not pee the day of any doctor appointments, or future surgeries, which hopefully won't happen for a couple of years.
What else, what else. Surgery was a success! I was initially supposed to have two surgeries but no need! I suspect that something happened to my skin, due to this tiny, painful brown grayish spot on my skin where the uteri live. Did I mistake what my doctor was telling me and something was inserted there? WAS THIS THERE BEFORE AND I HAD NO IDEA?
I got to ride in a wheelchair to the car. That was fun. Highlight of the day.
So, it was okay. Other than the urine part, I would say that my April is starting off well? Still have a whole week of no classes left because of post-surgery appointment, which let's be honest, will probably take like 10 minutes.
