Top Ten Fandoms I'm In!

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that my favorite show, Bob's Burgers, has been removed from Netflix. Or at least seasons 3 to 5 have been removed. And that was pretty much my #1 fandom. And that's partly the reason why I didn't just dedicate this post to Bob's Burgers. BECAUSE I'M SO SAD OKAY? SO SAD.

A post shared by Valerie (@innocentsmiley) on

Like look. I have my Belcher babies. And two t-shirts. I just love this show so much.

Onto my other favorite fandoms, I guess.

There's Mass Effect, which is one of my favorite, favorite, video game series (it used to be Assassin's Creed, but they messed up big time I think). It has some of my favorite character interactions, and the new game, Mass Effect Andromeda, is amazing. I'm so glad I preordered it.

Also Bioware makes great games, like Dragon Age. The characters are all amazing, and so is the story.

I feel like I'm in all the video game fandoms. Like Ace Attorney, and Pokemon, AND FALLOUT 4. And Bioshock. And there's just too many, too many.

When it comes to anime, I am a huge fan of Cardcaptor Sakura, as it was one of the first anime I watched. In French. It was great. I also watched Sailor Moon in Chinese, but I never really got into it too much. My fave is Sailor Venus however.

There's also a bunch of anime I love, like Natsume Yuujinchou, and One Punch Man. And a ton more that's on my anime list, which I don't feel like looking at right now.

Oh, don't forget everything by Disney. I really love Disney. I mean I go to WDW all the time thanks to my annual pass (thanks dad)

Uhhh let's see, TV shows. Oh I absolutely LOVED Stranger Things! And Sense8! And I'm currently in the middle of The OA, which is pretty good. Though I only watched one episode. So I lied, I'm not really in the middle middle. And I can't forget Jessica Jones. I need new seasons of all of these asap.

I'm not going to talk about books because I love all the books.

I'm in the Kung Fu Panda fandom but I'm not sure if there is actually a fandom for that. But I have literally watched that movie more than 20 times at this point. I don't know why I am freaking obsessed with it. I just am.

Is that it? Probably not. Also I basically listed everything that came to mind, and this wasn't organized in any way at all.

Top Ten Books On My Spring TBR!

I have so many books to read in the upcoming months, and so little time. I like to pretend that this is the set schedule I have for myself, but that's a lie and everybody knows it.

Also if you haven't noticed, along with changing a couple of things on the blog, I've also changed the TTT graphic! Clicking on the graphic leads you back to The Broke and the Bookish, who hosts Top Ten Tuesdays!

I've already started The Inexplicable Logic of My Life, but I haven't gotten that far. Either way, I have heard amazing things, and I will be finishing it soon!

Obviously Holly wants me to read A Conjuring of Light ASAP, and seeing that I brought that to read over "spring" break (really winter break at this point), I WILL BE GETTING TO IT. I promise.

I'm #2 on the hold list for A Promise of Fire, because I am so very sick of YA, and I needed something new. And pretty sure either Holly or Rashika recommended this to me. And I always listen to the recommendations of my friends (sometimes)

Apparently I put All the Birds in the Sky on hold a LONG time ago, and I'm almost next in line for it! So I'm just going to assume I'll be reading it this spring.

I preordered At the Edge of the Universe, so obviously I need to get to it. Also it's Shaun David Hutchinson and he's my fave.

Recently received Waking Gods from Netgalley (that "Wish For It" actually works sometimes, ha) and that means I can read it! Woo!

I'm not as excited as I was before to read The One Memory of Flora Banks, but since it has to do with memory, I'm interested to know how it turns out.

And then there's The Upside of Unrequited.

And Letters to the Lost, which I have no idea what it's about, but I'm going in blind because why not.

Lastly, I've been reading The Secret of a Heart Note, but it's taken me months because I'm just not as engaged as I hoped I would have been? It's sad.

Will I read any of these this spring? Time will tell. Though I will have to read ACOL or else Holly will disown me.

Ten Books I Loved Less Than I Thought I Would

Are we going to play the "this book sucked" game, or the "this book was so much better than I expected?" I have no idea, I think it is definitely fun to bash books, so let's do that. Woo!

Literally looking forward to Of Fire and Stars since the beginning of 2016, and it just didn't work out for me at all. And for a ton of other readers as well. So I guess this really wasn't just a me thing.

Also was looking forward to Georgia Peaches and Other Forbidden Fruit so much, even more than Of Fire and Stars. But that just, didn't end up working out for me either. I was just way to distraught and discouraged over the main character's father actions. Big nope for me.

I don't even know WHAT I read after finishing Vassa in the Night. No idea whatsoever.

I figured that after having good luck with the author's previous book, I would like Bright Smoke, Cold Fire. But that did not end up happening at all. Instead the book was fairly boring, and was really slow.

I WANTED TO LOVE Carry On. But I should've know that Rainbow Rowell couldn't write fantasy. Or at least couldn't write my expectations of fantasy. I set the bar too high.

Let us not go back to the trainwreck that was Zenith. The best part was that it wasn't even the whole book. Literally Part One pissed me off so badly that I just couldn't.

I'm pretty sad about Ivory And Bone, and I really wish it was the prehistoric fantasy we all deserved. Sadly it was not. Or at least it wasn't for me (and my buds).

Have I mentioned I fought so hard to get an ARC of Into the Dim? In the end it wasn't even worth it because I hated the characters wayyyy too much.

Riders wasn't that great either. I'm not so keen on the one special girl surrounded by all guys type of trope. Especially when she refuses to tell ANYONE what is going on. CUE FRUSTRATION.

To me, The Girl At Midnight felt like a carbon copy of Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Maybe if I hadn't have read that first, I would have loved it. But sadly, nope.

To sum up, nope nope nopity nope to all of these.

I read most of these in 2016, which didn't end up being a good year for me reading wise. Hopefully this year is better!

Top Ten Graphic Novels!

I was so tempted to put every single Ms. Marvel comic on here, because of what happened last weekend. I won't since I have a lot to recommend (and also want to read), but just know that I am very much emphasizing Ms. Marvel. It's a great comic and it has great representation.

Like I said, Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1: No Normal is a GREAT place to start if you're new to comics. Also it features Kamala Khan as Ms. Marvel, and she is amazing. And a teenager. And a Muslim.
Saga is one that I recommend again and again and again. It's also a great place to start if you're new to comics AND graphic novels in general. The thing that makes me hesitate about superhero comics is that it's hard to find a place to start, and there's so much background on a certain character, that it's tough to know what "series" to read. With Saga, you don't need to know anything at all. Just pick up the first volume, and before you know it, you'll be on the fifth.

I raved about this earlier, but YES to American Born Chinese. Totally resonated with me (10 years later). It also is #ownvoices, and brings in the story of the Monkey King.

I recently read This One Summer, and loved the simplicity, yet hard hitting messages it conveyed. If you find this in your library, check it out ASAP.

I read Maus years ago for my English class. It was a great pick for 10th grade. Even though I don't remember much about it, I remember 1) loving it and 2) being more aware about what happened during WWII. If you love reading about WWII as much as I do, pick this up!

After reading Ms. Marvel, I also picked up Captain Marvel (Marvel Now) #1, and loved that as well. Though I was more confused with this one, as I didn't know the history of Captain Marvel. However I still enjoyed the story and the series!

I read The Graveyard Book and loved it, which is why I picked up the graphic novel version of it. And I was impressed! Rather than having only one artist, each chapter was drawn in a different style by different authors. I started to appreciate the diversity of the art after a couple of chapters (because to be honest I wasn't sure how I felt about it at the beginning).

Batgirl, Volume 1, in which never have I been more happier to see Batgirl back in action! I only was able to read the first volume, but I have yet to check the local library for the rest of the series.

Then there is Everything Is Teeth, which is about SHARKS. I can't say much else except that haha.

Lastly, there is White Sand, which is by Brandon Sanderson. I will never NOT recommend Brandon Sanderson, so of course he makes it onto this list!

Have you read any of these? I'm constantly on the lookout for more graphic novels at the library, so feel free to recommend me some!

Top Ten New Releases I Am Excited For!

I may have missed doing this topic a couple of weeks ago, but HERE IT IS, for my freebie! Because why not. Honestly I didn't know much about 2017 coming in, but now I'm much more familiar with what will be releasing in the next upcoming months.

I should probably clarify that this most likely covers the first half of 2017!

There's really no doubt that A Conjuring of Light is my all time highly anticipated for this year. It's the final book of the series, and I'm honestly not quite sure how I will feel after I finish.

I am actually currently reading When Dimple Met Rishi right now. And you know what? I actually wasn't as excited about it before I picked it up. Now I am hooked and I understand the hype. The hype is real. (Also CODING!)

Still beyond excited for It's Not Like It's A Secret. I do hope that there are some edits before the final book comes out though. Because I really needed this book yesterday, and it needs to be perfect. Really hoping I am not overhyping this in my head hahah.

Guys this is Elizabeth Wein's new book, The Pearl Thief, AND HOW COULD I NOT BE EXCITED? I have read every one of her WWII-related books (now I know all about planes) and of course this will be my next. ALSO FREAKING PREQUEL.

I am a huge fan of Shaun David Hutchinson so I will read anything of his even if I know nothing about it. At the Edge of the Universe is already preordered and I have no regrets.

I have also been looking forward to Noteworthy since 1994 (just kidding since a couple months ago). Anything with acapella in it just cannot go wrong.
Daughter of the Pirate King just sounds amazing. Because pirates. AND WOW I WAS JUST REMINDED THAT I AM SUPER EXCITED FOR THE EDGE OF THE ABYSS AS WELL. But I forgot to add it to this list! Let's just say I am just excited for pirates.

Coding guys. Coding. Girl Code may be non-fiction, but I will read and promote anything that has to do with girls and coding.
Strange The Dreamer is definitely on top of this list as well. I've been waiting forever for it, so hopefully it is as good as it sounds! Also I may have preordered both the US and the UK edition because I just could not decide which I wanted more. Whoops.

Another Victoria Schwab novel! Our Dark Duet is the continuation of This Savage Song and I would be lying if I said I didn't need it ASAP.

That is a very very short list of what I am looking forward to from now til June! Obviously there are tons more on my TBR. What are you highly anticipating?

Ten Underrated/Hidden Gem Books I've Read In The Past Year Or So

This is just going to be underrated books I read during the year of the garbage fire, and not ones released during 2016. Sadly I didn't have such a great time with the new releases. Hopefully 2017 will be better in that regard!

Also I think I'm going to define underrated as under 1000 ratings. Plus I did already do this post a couple of months ago, so I am only limiting this to 5 books! Because then it would be too repetitive.

I really liked Iron Cast, especially the cover. I did see a little bit of hype on my Twitter feed, but it definitely wasn't as much as some other books coming out at the time!

The Incredible Adventures of Cinnamon Girl was first published in Australia, but then finally made its debut in the US, for which I am pretty thankful for. Looking back, I think I expected more from it, but in the end I really enjoyed it.

I can't believe Return Once More is not more popular. I don't think it helps that the pub did little to no publicity, PLUS they dropped the sequel. Luckily the sequel is self-pubbed and is on Amazon.

This next one is interesting. Everything Is Teeth is a graphic novel about a little girl obsessed with sharks and shark attacks. It was interesting. I may not have understood the message, but it was UNIQUE.

Lastly, and this one is decently popular on Twitter, there's Timekeeper! I actually really liked this one, and I have been having really good luck with Sky Pony Press. I hope this streak keeps up!

Have you read any good underrated books? I hope to read more this year!

Top Ten Things I Am Thankful For

I'm pretty much thankful for anything and everything. Books, video games, food, my lovable cat, my parents, and my friends. But here, let me expand the list!

--

I might as well start with the basics. I am really thankful for my PS4. It is really pulling me through these rough times. And even though it is taking away time from reading (and my other work for that matter), it's completely worth it.

My apartment. I love my apartment, and I especially love that I have heat and air conditioning and I don't think I have to worry about going over my electric bill. Maybe. I guess we'll see. But every time I come home from work, I get excited because I have my own amazing place, and I hope that never changes.

I'm also really thankful for my cat, Primrose. Just today I was like "I cannot believe I actually adopted a pet." I'm so proud of past Val.

Super thankful for these books, because they got me back into reading. And of course The Book Thief is there, no surprise.

The internet. And wifi. Because I do not think I could live without either at this point.

And then on top of that, I'm going to have to add my phone and of course my laptop. It's such a close tie between my laptop and my PS4 at this point, aha. Either way, I am thankful for it all.

FOOD. TURKEY. MASHED POTATOES. PUMPKIN PANCAKES. FOOD BABY.

The fact that I am 21+, and I can drink alcohol, and I would never EVER go back to being under 21. Ever. I am so thankful that I can buy and drink beer and wine and just be treated like an adult (sometimes).

My parents, obviously.

And lastly, YOU of course. I'm really thankful for having the opportunity to blog, and reach 400 (!!!) followers, something I never thought I could do. And of course, I'm so thankful for the friends I've made (and talk to almost every day, you know who you are).

What are you thankful for?

Top Ten Books I Have Added To My TBR Recently

I think the title is self-explanatory. As of this year, I have been reading a lot of Young Adult. And although that will still be my focus, I'm slowly shifting away from the genre. There was a time in my life where I wasn't ready for adult fiction. And although I have read a couple of books in that genre, I didn't really go out of my way to look for new titles. I still don't think I will, but rather focus on the ones that are already out.

Hence why I have added a bunch of adult titles to my TBR. Though I do have YA here to balance it out, haha.

It's Not Like It's A Secret doesn't come out until May 17th, which I'm sad about because it's the first Asian, f/f romance I've personally seen. In other words, I need it.

I am really excited about Girl Code coming out, even though it is teen non-fiction. Yes it's about programming, more specifically programming a video game. And sure, that is not even my field, BUT STILL. I think this will be a great read, especially to teens who are thinking of majoring/working in STEM.

I'm not sure WHY I have just heard of The Princess Saves Herself In This One, but I need this one in my life. I've been looking for more poetry, but rather anthologies of them, and not all classics. This seems like a very good place to start.

I had All The Birds In The Sky on my radar before, but again, because it was adult, I didn't really think to pick it up. But a world with both science and magic? Together? That sounds amazing.

Another title with "Bird" in it! I don't exactly know what The Bird And The Sword is about, but it's adult fantasy, and I have seen multiple reviews praising it. I'm hoping that it's something different than what I'm used to reading!

Just the title of Quarter Life Poetry: Poems for the Young, Broke, and Hangry interests me. Also, poems, about millenials. You know, the generation everyone hates? Don't worry people will soon pick on the next generation. I don't know what they're called though. But anyways, this features poems about post-college life, which is where I am now.
And what would this list be without a WWII book? Yep, so of course That Burning Summer is on the list.

Freedom Swimmer is about my mom's past pretty much. The cultural revolution in China, and all that jazz.

Not sure why I didn't have The Fallen Kingdom on my list earlier, because this is the last book in The Falconer series, and I'm both scared and excited to see how it ends.

Remember when I mentioned poetry? It's the reason I added milk and honey to the list, also I've been seeing it around as well, and I am interested.

Any poetry recommendations? What are some books you added to your TBR recently?

Top Ten Scary Books I Will Most Likely Avoid

Let's be honest, I am not at all a fan of spooky or creepy books. Why? Because that is not how I roll at all. Nevertheless, I will compile a list of books that I have seen floating around. Not that I'll read them.

I mean, unless you really want me to read them because they are THAT good, then I will consider it.

The Dead House came to mind because I now have a bookmark of it. I love said bookmark, but I don't think I would ever pick up the book. #sorrynotsorry.

The same author also wrote And The Trees Crept In, otherwise known as The Creeper Man, which to me sounds much more scarier. I actually have this book, but I'm not exactly sure if I'll have the guts to read it.

I was just reading the synopsis of Shutter, and I caught the fact that the main character is a tetrachromat. And I'm like, isn't that when you have four cones rather than three cones (in your retina?). But sure, I guess that includes auras of the undead. Anyways, I think I would actually read this. Maybe get an ebook of it or something.

I will most likely be reading Stalking Jack The Ripper at some point! Seeing as it doesn't seem too creepy compared to the others here. How bad can it be? Am I right? Right?

Okay Daughters Unto Devils looks creepy. Too creepy. Doesn't the girl on the cover reminds you of the girl from the ring? And basically any other creepy looking girl from any scary movie? Because no thank you. Bye.

Oh and speaking of the ring, how about The Girl From The Well. I remember reading reviews of this and being like "never in a thousand years, nopity nope nope."

I've heard of Of Metal And Wishes, and honestly I don't know. It doesn't sound like my kind of novel, yet I have heard bloggers rave about it.

And the cover for The Women In The Walls looks creepy enough, don't you think. Unfortunately I haven't heard the greatest things about this book, so even if I was all for horror, I will probably pass on this one!

Last Seen Leaving isn't exactly horror (Which I CLEARLY MENTIONED JOEY), but I think I would still count it as creepy and spooky. And not my type of book. I tend to keep away from thrillers as well, especially YA thriller. I haven't had much luck in that category, and I'm not sure if it's because I genuinely don't like them, or they're just bad.

Saw We'll Never Be Apart at Shannon's house this weekend, on her bookshelf, and no thank you I will gladly "be apart". Because I don't even care or know what it's about. Creepy trees? Maybe. Ugh.

Do you love reading thrillers or horror? Or no? How do you feel about Halloween coming up?

Top Ten Tuesday #96 (Featuring My Cat)

Hosted by the Broke and the Bookish!

Ten Characters I Would Name A Cat After

Featuring, my cat, whose name is Primrose. You know, from The Hunger Games.

Look, I'm not a Shannon. I'm not a HUGE fan of The Hunger Games (sorry Shannon), but even I couldn't change my cat's name after I adopted her. Why? Well she LOOKED like a Primrose. Sweet, adorable, and well, sometimes she is a little bad. But what can I do.

Let's start shall we? If I were to rename Primrose, here are the character names I would pick! Accompanied by pictures, of course!

Liesel from The Book Thief

Because Primrose loves me books. More specifically, rubbing her face on the corners and occasionally trying to take a bite out of them.

Look at how sinister and sassy she looks in this picture.

Noah from The Raven Boys

You know, if Prim was a boy cat. Also look at her, hiding from the world.

Just your usual scratching. She's secretly mischievous and does things I don't want her to do. Speak of the devil, I just heard something fall in the kitchen.

Miles from Made You Up

Again, if Prim were a boy. Apparently cats like being in boxes because it serves as a place away from stress, anxiety, and overall petting.

Lena from Metaltown

I don't even like the Lena from Metaltown, but Shannon's daughter is named Lena and she is my best friend and of course I would name someone after her.

Aza Ray from Magonia

Prim is no bird person, but her eyes change from adorably cute to this. It's a big enough change for me. Also Aza is a cute name.

"Verity" from Code Name Verity

Verity is such an elegant, deep name. Like Primrose! But maybe more for older and more mature cats, rather than this squish right here.

Levi from Fangirl

I think Levi would make a great fish name. And I guess a cat name too.

Do you have a cat? Or a pet? What would you name them?

Top Ten "Why I Read What I Read" Books

I just word vomited out that title.

Why do I read the books I read? Well, mainly because of you guys. And media. And I just cannot pick for myself anymore.

Weeks and months of telling Amber I'll read Because You'll Never Meet Me someday, I finally did it! Last month too! And I absolutely loved it. I actually have a whole list of recommendations from some of my favorites, because if I forget for one second I'll get yelled at.

Before becoming a book blogger, I joined a couple of groups on Goodreads. I asked about book recommendations that had not much romance but included magic, and I got Sabriel! It's now one of my favorite books, and I'm currently on the last book in the trilogy (as a reread), because Goldenhand is coming out soon!

I meant to read The Knife of Never Letting Go during The Bookish Games, but I did not. But then I read it during the summer and now all is good! Except my heart.

My ex-housemate brought Stitches home with her. It's a graphic novel that was assigned for her class. I read it. I don't remember what I read, but I read it.

Shannon recommended The Memory Book to me! Which was a perfect fit because it's a young adult version of Still Alice basically.

It's no surprise that I read everything that has to do with WWII, but I had never read The Diary of a Young Girl. That is, until Ely @ Tea & Titles forced me to. My heart is also still broken from that.

Here's another book Shannon raves about. Denton Little's Deathdate. I will never not pronounce it and type it as Denton's Little Deathdate. I am sorry.

I would have NOT read The Way of Kings if Faye @ The Social Potato didn't host a readalong for it. With Twitter discussions. That now that I think back on it, were super spoiler-y to everyone. But no one really cared haha.

I literally found the description of Dragon's Bait on Tumblr. I had to search through all the notes to find the title of the book, because I NEEDED it in my life. It turned out to be a very good children's book. And a good break from college.

Yeah. I read A Court of Thorns and Roses because of all the drama around it. I'll get to the sequel one day.

Do you have any recommendations for me? List your favorites below!

All About (Disney) Villains, And Their Book Counterparts

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the topic was villains, was "disney villains". So I thought, "how can I tie Disney to books?" And so here I am, comparing the villains in these books to the ones in Disney movies!

I actually do not usually read many books that have a clear cut villain in them, or it's been so long that I've forgotten about them, so this took some serious thinking on my part. But basically, each one of these books has some sort of resemblance to the villain in each book!

Mistborn --> Jafar from Aladdin

The Lord Ruler thinks he is all powerful, just like Jafar who thinks he will be invincible and ruler of Agrabah with the lamp.

Red Rising --> Shere Khan from The Jungle Book

Where the Golds expect no one to infiltrate their ranks and rise within them. Similar to them, Shere Khan wants to get rid of Mowgli because he doesn't belong. I don't remember what the name of the specific villain is in this series, but oh well!

Cinder --> Yzma from The Emperor's New Groove

It's funny to actually imagine this, but Queen Levana, just like Yzma, is searching for the true heir so they can get rid of them. And therefore take their place on the throne.

A Darker Shade of Magic --> Evil Queen from Snow White

Holland hates Kell because Kell is a better Antari. Just kidding, this wasn't very well thought out and I am too lazy to change it.

Everything, Everything --> Mother Gothel from Tangled

This one fits perfectly! In this case, Maddie is constantly stuck at home because her mom just wants to protect her and keep her "safe".

A Court of Thorns And Roses --> Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty

I know this is already based on Beauty and the Beast, but can you see the similarities between what's-her-face and her curse upon everyone? And Feyre has to go through a series of challenges, just like Prince Phillip.

Nimona --> Captain Hook from Peter Pan

Technically the protagonist is the villain, and he never really wins at much. Or is constantly beat by the good guy.

Walk On Earth A Stranger --> Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians

Where Lee's uncle just wants all of her gold, or gold seeking abilities. Basically just replace "gold" with "puppies" and you have Cruella.

The Abyss Surrounds Us --> Madame Medusa from The Rescuers

I don't know if anyone has watched The Rescuers, but Madame Medusa kidnaps a little girl (I think it was for ransom?) So in this book, Cas is kidnapped for her abilities to train a Reckoner. Unfortunately no little mice will be saving her.

The Raven King --> Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog

When you play around with the dead or the spirits, don't expect to not face any consequences!

Hope you enjoyed me using my brain! Can you think of anymore?

Top Ten Books On My Fall TBR

I used to live in the north, but now here I am in North Carolina, eagerly anticipating sweater weather. But it will never come. Which is fine by me, I suppose, because I really do like warmer weather. Plus I know winter is coming and I don't want that yet.

Even though it doesn't feel like fall yet, I will pretend that it is. Here's my list of books that maybe I will read and get to these next couple of months!

I recently went to see David Arnold at Flyleaf Books, and I got my copy of Kids of Appetite signed! Every one of his books that I have are signed by him now, which is great because I consider him one of my favorite authors. So I will definitely be getting to Kids of Appetite at some point.

Holly has raved about The Female of the Species a ton, which means I will definitely be getting to it at some point. I feel like I've already mentioned this, but oh well.

Shannon absolutely loved Disruption, and I'm sure that I will too. I really am just putting all my faith in my buddies, because I do tend to do that.

I bought the box set, which includes Crooked Kingdom. And that comes tomorrow!

Ah Gemina. I'm still debating as to whether I should buy a finished copy or not. I should if I have the money for it! Or maybe wait until it's on sale somewhere haha.

I am very excited for Replica because it is such an interesting concept, to flip between chapters. How am I supposed to keep track of my reading via Goodreads though? How does that work haha.

Surprise! I actually really liked Magonia! Which is why I will definitely be picking up the sequel, Aerie!

And there's also Holding Up The Universe too, because honestly I think I would read anything by Jennifer Niven. I remember her coming to Rochester for the Rochester Teen Book Festival, and back then she wasn't super well known. That was a fun experience.

Iron Cast! I have no idea why I'm drawn to it. Again, Holly loved it and wants me to read it ASAP.

And I just had to pick up Timekeeper, how can you resist the plot line for this? Seriously check out that blurb!

Are you ready for fall? Apple picking? Pumpkin picking? Sweater weather? Presidential elections? (no)

Top Ten Favorite Songs At The Moment

I have never embedded a Spotify playlist on my blog. Ever. Should I change that today?

Yes, yes I should. I know you can't seem to play these lists without opening up the entire app, but I do use Spotify all the time, and I do pay for it (at a discount which makes it really worth it).

Anyways, maybe you should discover some new songs from my favorites! Or look at the song titles and see if you recognize any!

Top Ten Tuesday #92

Hosted by the Broke and the Bookish!

Top Ten All Time Fantasy Favorites

Ha. Top Ten? What? No way will I be able to do this.

I don't think I've read enough books to do a subgenre, and I've already done a list of my favorite WWII books (which is basically all of them), so I think I will not be creative and stick with fantasy.

Oh! I guess this will be pure, fantasy. Not paranormal or supernatural, just fantasy.

Let's start off with my childhood favorite, Inkheart, which I read over and over again in elementary school. If you're interested in what happens when stories are read to life, I think you'll love to this book.
Daughter of Smoke & Bone is what got me reading again in college. And I discovered it through Goodreads! Woo! But seriously, such a good fantasy series.

I got The Night Circus for christmas years ago, and it was everything I wanted and more. Though I might have to reread it because I don't exactly remember what happened, oops.

I just reread Sabriel so I can confirm that yes it is still my favorite and yes it is still amazing.

I spent a whole month reading The Way of Kings, as it is 1000 pages. I loved the readalong that I was a part of, and our Twitter chats, and the fact that we probably spoiled everyone, but no one cared back in the day that we were having our discussions out in the open. (Either that or it wasn't that known of a book hahah)

Anyone who has read A Darker Shade of Magic will know that it is one of the best. Really. I've already preordered the last book, although I don't even know if I want to know how it ends.

Again, another Sanderson read. Mistborn blew my socks off.

Surprisingly, the hype didn't get to me for Truthwitch, though I did read it way before it got super duper hyped up. Which ended up being a good thing, because I liked it a lot!

The only graphic novel on this list! If you haven't read Nimona, what exactly are you waiting for? It's about villains! Shapeshifters! Love! Romance! All that jazz!

Lastly, there is Nevernight. With all the hype since and before its release, I'm sure you need no further convincing to read it.

Are any of these your favorites? Do you like (epic, really) fantasy?
