What games are you looking forward to in 2015?

To be honest, I don't know. I haven't kept up with games since I haven't been keeping up with the latest consoles. And although I keep saying that this is the year I buy a PS4, I'm not sure if I'll actually go for it. WELL, time to look up games and get hyped over them just for this post.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

WHAT IS THIS HORRIBLE TRAILER POSTER. WHY DOES NATE LOOK LIKE HE'S 40 AND OLD AND TIRED. This is the finale (I'm guessing) to the Uncharted series that I've been playing on the PS3, and man, I don't know what to think. It's just, wahhhh. I swear, it looks like everything bad could potentially happen and no I don't want that.

Recommendation: The Oregon Trail

DO YOU REMEMBER THIS GAME? Yes. I do too.

Well good news, it's been archived, and you can play it for free on the interwebs! There's the 1990 version here, and The Oregon Trail Deluxe here.

But yeah, the game's fairly simple to explain, you and your family is traveling to the frontier because, I guess you want to mine for gold or whatever, but the journey ahead of you is long and tough. So based on your choices and occupation, events will happen along the journey that YOU have to deal with, with your choices.

So yep, old game, but still a classic.

Read Play Blog #4: Favorite Sci-Fi Game

What's your favorite Sci-Fi game?

I also forgot about posting my favorite Sci-Fi game! Gah, life. But anyways, to be honest I was going to mention that Mass Effect was my favorite Sci-Fi video game series, but let's switch it up for now. I also don't consider myself a true ME fan, only because I've only played the second game, and half of the third. That will be fixed by next month, I promise.

Yay for Star Ocean!

The Star Ocean series has actually been around for a pretty long time now, I think it started with the Playstation 1. I also enjoyed playing Star Ocean: Til the End of Time on the Playstation 2, but I never ended up finishing it (it was two discs!).

Anyways, the one I have featured is Star Ocean: The Last Hope. It's for both the PS3 and Xbox 360, and basically you get to travel to different worlds, to prevent the destruction of the universe! Very complex, haha, but the characters are adorable. Also, there are a lot of feels!

Recommendation: Suikoden Tierkreis

So I stumbled on this little gem for the Nintendo DS a while back, and it WAS AN AMAZING GAME. It's your typical fantasy RPG game, but with an incredible storyline, and also a billion characters to collect for your party. Seriously, there are more than 100+ playable characters that you can collect along the way of your journey. Sometimes it's easy, but other times you have to do a certain quest in a certain time frame.

I remember looking at the guide for it, hahah, it was a lot.

I didn't even finish the stupid, amazing game. I really need to get on that. I just have a problem with finishing games in general, sigh. But yeah, this is actually not that well known, even though there's also a series surrounding it as well!

Read Play Blog #3: What I Would Be For Halloween

What game character would you like to be for Halloween? 

I love Halloween, except I'm always late on the whole decoration thing, so in the end I have to come up with a last minute costume. It doesn't help that I haven't participating in the past 5 years? And my mom was not good with making creative costumes.

Nevertheless, if I could be a game character for Halloween (or for some kind of convention), it would definitely have to be... dun dun dun.

Trucy Wright from Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney!

I've always wanted to dress up as her, because 1) she is awesome, and 2) I have brownish hair, and it could work out! Fun fact: AJ Ace Attorney was the first game I played in the series, because I had no idea that it was part of a series. (This is almost as bad as the time I played Kingdom Hearts 2 before Kingdom Hearts 1. Apparently I'm not good with numbers)

Monthly Recommendation

So I haven't been playing anything. I've had a very busy month with everything, but let me think of something scary. Something relating to Halloween. Hmmmm. I can't recommend Bioshock since I already did that the last two months so...

Recommendation: The Last of Us

The Last of Us is a post-apocalyptic world filled with zombie-like creatures, that were infected by by a mutated strain of fungus. Basically, Joel and Ellie travel through the U.S. looking for a doctor that can extract the immunity antibody out of Ellie, since she's somehow immune to the virus.

The graphics are amazing, but it's also only on the PS3. Since I live in Boston, I loved being able to go through the city. The scenery was beautiful, especially with all the overgrown trees and the rotting cars. I even saw some swan boats just tossed aside, but there wasn't a pond anymore.

Anyways, there are a lot of scary zombies in this game, so this makes a great Halloweenie recommendation!

Read Play Blog: Preferred Console

What is your preferred gaming platform? 

This is actually a really hard question, because I played a lot of different platforms over the year. I first started out my gaming experience on a Gameboy Advance SP, when I was an 11 year old. It was a great, but emotional time for me, because my mom would often get super pissed off whenever I was playing it, and would take it away from me for months at a time (we do not talk about this time). 

And then, I somehow convinced her to buy me a PS2, you know for exercise aka Dance Dance Revolution. I actually used to be an expert at that game, but since the franchise wasn't popularized for the PS3, I'm a little rusty. 

I even bought my own Nintendo DS! You know, for all those Ace Attorney games.

But if I had to pick between the four consoles I own, along with the PC, I would have to say that PS3 is the way to go. And here's why:

• Tons and tons of games. I used to think the PS2 had a huge variety of games, but there are even more in this generation! They are still coming up with games now, even though the PS4 is already out (Like Destiny, which one day will be mine)

• Advantages over the Xbox -- I don't have to pay for playing online (not that I really do), it can play blu-ray discs, and other things I can't think of at the moment.

• THE GRAPHICS ARE AWESOME

• The controller fits in my small hand perfectly ;D

Yeah, but that's pretty much it. I will forever stick to Playstation, and I will one day own the PS4, when the price drops to $300 (haha, ha, ha)

Currently Playing: Bioshock Infinite!

This Month's Recommendation: Bioshock, only because I just finished it and WOW. Like sure it is super duper creepy, but Rapture, the city under the sea, is so fascinating. Too bad everyone went mad on human modifications.

Anyways, the premise of the game centers around the time period of FDR, and how this man, Andrew Ryan, created this city under the sea in order to unleash man's potential without running into anything legal. 

But it is incredibly scary. In my opinion. I just went straight to Infinite rather than playing Bioshock 2 because I seriously need a break!

So even though I'm a month late, and it's not the 16th, I've decided to hop on Jeann's new meme that combines books AND video games together! This is technically the second post of hers, and I haven't been able to come up with a post until now. So I guess I'll just leave these until the 22nd of each month? Sound good?

Today's Topic: What is your favorite gaming genre?

I play a ton of games, ranging from the PS3, to the Nintendo DS, or the Gameboy Advance SP. So, let me just tell you my two favorite genres. Yes, I can't even narrow it down to one. Sorry not sorry.

Let's start with the first :D Be prepared!

Puzzles

  

I absolutely loved all of the Professor Layton games for the Nintendo DS. This is literally full of puzzles, PUZZLES ARE EVERYWHERE, be warned! I have grown to be wary of the line Professor Layton always comes up with "This reminds of a puzzle", and then BAM, another puzzle based on an APPLE. All of the games in this series is point and click, and the story behind each mystery is beyond amazing!

ACE ATTORNEY! I have fallen in love with every single character from all the games, except for Dual Destinies because I can't play it. This is a game based on logic, contradictions and figuring out the truth. It all takes place in either the courtroom, or at the crime scene. It is also a point and click game, as in you don't use the arrows to control the character. ALSO, it features hilarious lines such as this:

Then there's Portal 2, which I also loved so much because of Wheatley and potato GLaDOS! Oh, and don't forget to mention that the puzzles in it involving the placing of two portals is so incredibly original and fun. The storyline is that you, a mute, maybe brain damaged, test subject, is being forced to participate in experiments involving portals by the AI that killed all the scientists. It's still a lot of fun though! I haven't had the chance to play the first Portal sadly.

Lastly, there's my favorite cute little sackboy, from Little Big Planet. I really want to classify this as a puzzle game, because you have to find ALL the stickers. Plus, it is multiplayer, and you must interact with your friends in little puzzle like games to acquire all the stickers. IT IS ADORABLE!  

Action

 

 

Assassin's Creed is literally my favorite series. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do when the PS4 game comes out, and I don't have a PS4. Out of all the games, my favorite Assassin has got to be Ezio (AC2, Revelations, Brotherhood). Basically, the story of the game is to ASSASSINATE ALL THE TEMPLARS! And the conspiracy theories in this game, wow it's almost as if the developers are trying to tell us something about the world.

My favorite inappropriate line in ACII

I'm currently playing Bioshock, and loving the creepiness of it all. Seriously, at the beginning, I moved very slowly and checked all corners. Now, I just whack my wrench around and kill tons of splicers. I'm getting really good at the game, but I DON'T PLAY THIS AT NIGHT! I really need to write a post dedicated to the world of Rapture, a world run by rich people, under the sea, away from civilization, all focused on genetically enhanced humans (gone wrong). It takes place after FDR and the Great Depression I think, or during? Not sure.

MASS EFFECT! To date I've only finished Mass Effect 2, and started Mass Effect 3. I stopped playing ME3 because I accidentally killed a key player. It was very sad. I may either continue, or wait until I buy the first Mass Effect through the PSN and start all over. Basically, this game takes place in SPACE. And every dialogue action you choose affects the storyline. There are tons of missions on different planets and it's tons of fun! There's a lot of info though.

I think everyone has heard of Skyrim: The Elder Scrolls by now. It's a never ending, dragon filled game, which has millions of side quests and things to do. Seriously though, dragons come at least 5 times a day :P

AND THEN THERE ARE THESE TWO GAMES. Both of these games actually combine action and puzzles together! And they are simply amazing. The first is the Uncharted Series, which is all about Nathan Drake, the treasure hunter. Of course everything he gets involved in turns to shit (sorry for my potty mouth). The first game involved the lost city of El Dorado.....and ZOMBIES. And within the game, there are puzzles you need to solve in order to move further along. And then, Tomb Raider is just awesome because of Lara Croft. And there are also puzzles hidden around for you to solve!

I'm so sorry for the long post, but as you can see, I AM OBSESSED. I have played and loved so many video games, that it is impossible to mention them all!

Honorable Mentions: J-Role Playing Games, such as Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy 13.

As I said before, I am currently playing Bioshock. And if I were to recommend one of these games to someone, I think it would be Portal 2. It's not just mindless shooting, but then it's also not boring either. However, some of the puzzles ARE really hard! I can't find a book to compare to it though :/
