Top Ten Tuesday #41

Hosted by the Broke and the Bookish!

Top Ten Books I'd Love To Read With My Book Club

Hey I do have a book club! Even though it's affiliated through college, and uh, only a couple people come. We have a usual amount of 5 people. SOMETIMES MORE. But that's okay! At least people come hahaha...aha. Well, so far, this year we've read Aristotle & Dante and I Am The Messenger, which had amazing themes and discussion topics. So with that in mind, I would love to read these titles due to their awesome discussion!

Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas - THIS WOULD BE HILARIOUS just to see the reactions of everyone when they discover the actual culprit.

All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven - I also think this is a good discussion novel as well, especially with the view of mental issues, suicide, etc.

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness - So I haven't read this, but doesn't it sound so creepy but cool? And suspenseful? I think it would be really cool to talk about afterwards.

The Martian by Andy Weir - THIS. I WANT TO READ IT. It seems like a typical, but good, book club book right? And then all of us can go through the science terminology together.

A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall - Since my book club enjoyed I Am the Messenger, I'm sure they would like this one as well. Well, I haven't read it yet but it looks like it's one of those novels that has multiple POVs but focuses on one couple?

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shafer - Surprisingly, I liked this book even though it was a) Historical fiction and b) didn't have much plot. I honestly don't really remember what it was about, but I liked the fact that it was in letter format. And that title is just unusual and unique hahah.

Still Alice by Lisa Genova - THE MOVIE FOR THIS BOOK IS COMING OUT AND I AM SO EXCITED AND I WILL CRY SO MUCH. This book gave me the feels. I love this book. And yeah it would be good for book club because I said so.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon - This book is so witty. I loved it. Honestly, I don't think it had much plot, which is why I don't really remember it (I should buy it, I almost bought it at Goodwill but I didn't). But it's definitely a good book book to discuss.

1984 by George Orwell - I can't believe I haven't read this yet, not even in high school. But I'm sure it's a good classic to discuss.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater - Just because everyone needs to read this book and series.

Not sure what I based my criteria on, but this was fun! Honestly I would want everyone to read everything I liked, but that would be too many books.

I can finally access your blog! It's taken me days to get on here.

I love book clubs! Even if there's only two of you, it's still a club. Awesome picks Val, All The Bright Places is one of my instant favourites. So beautiful and it'll make you wonder what everyone ever saw in John Green. I can't wait to see what you think of it. Thanks for sharing poppet <3

Yes! All the Bright Places is definitely a perfect choice. Dangerous Girls is on my list as well and I really need to read it soon! I've heard such amazing things about it and I'd love to try and figure everything out with other people!

You've already read two books? Wow, that's impressive. I couldn't get anyone to actually reading besides me. And that's why that book club failed! The Raven Boys would have been one I would have loved to discuss, and I so want to read The Martian.

1984 wasn’t on any of my book lists for high school or college either! I ended up reading it on my own, and it was really good! Definitely one of the better classics I’ve read :) Mostly because it’s super creepy.

Everyone needs to read The Raven Boys. No question about that!

I don't really have a book club. Well, I sort of do with the Aussie goodreads group (they're awesome) but these books would be aaawesome. Although I am weird and kind of prefer to either flail about books or cuddle them quietly. I hardly ever discuss them. o.O I LOVED ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES IT WOULD BE PERFECT FOR DISCUSSION.

I just finished All the Bright Places, and it was such a well written and feels-shredding book. It was a little bit too dark for my taste, but I can't deny that it was still an amazing book. Also, I really need to read 1984 and The Raven Cycle series.

You sold me at "just because everyone needs to read this book and series." *puts TRB on my top for TBR* I've heard so many good things about that series! And Dangerous Girls too! I think my mind would boggle if I read the book! Exciiiited.

I would like to read The Martian too! I got it on sale a few weeks ago, and now I need to read it (in 7 or 8 years, I think that is how long my TBR is now?). All the Bright Places for sure would be a good one, and definitely Dangerous Girls and A Monster Calls! Great choices, I love that you have a book club too :)

The Golem and the Jinni would also make for a lot of good discussions!!! That one is so philosophical that I wish there would come a day I'd find a book club to discuss it with~

I NEED to read Still Alice! I have a movie theater giftcard burning a hole in my wallet, but I can't see the movie until I've read the book. I know that's a silly rule, but it's just the way I am, haha. I've never really heard of a teen reading it, so that's encouraging to see.

Interesting post! I was going to do this TTT, but I failed with timing, haha.
