An Innocent Life #18: What Is This Motivation You Speak Of?

I am a very tired person.

It's almost come to the point where I am too tired to come up with posts, or even read and review certain books. But I am slowly chugging along, week after week. I look forward to the weekend every Monday! And next thing I know, it's Sunday again! How does that happen?

It doesn't seem like I did a very good job keeping track of my favorite posts last month. I'll do better next time (Something I tell myself every day HA)

Shannon @ It Starts At Midnight discusses whether a ship can sink a book for you, or if you're totally still on board because everything else is awesome.

Michelle @ Tea & Titles talks about the 5 star rating, and her problems with it.

Lastly, Aentee @ Read At Midnight has compiled a master post of her event, #CritYourFaves. I went through some of them and discovered some incredible posts!

I WENT TO SEE OBAMA.

And as amazing as it was, I'm not sure I would wait that long again. Also I'm pretty sure I cut almost half the line to get in? Who knows. But it was fun, even though a couple people fainted around us. Who knew it could get to 80 degrees in November?

Like I mentioned before, life has really gotten to me. And I don't think it helps with what happens on Twitter, which is a reason why I don't go on as much as I used to. Mainly because I do not have the energy to get involved. It's also made me realize how I need to view blogging as a hobby, and not as a job. I didn't really do that in the past, but there have been moments where I get pressured to read and review certain books. I think it helps that I have cut down on my requesting, like I only have three to review for November! Yay! Isn't it weird how we all want the shiny review copies, but then get so burned out by them? ANYWAYS.

I hope you have had more motivation and inspiration than me! I plan to be around, hopefully. Thanks so much for continuing to read my blog!

I'm totally feeling you when you say real life makes you too exhausted to blog sometimes! Sometimes it feels like a chore particularly if you have to review books you're not interested in. I've been feeling like that most of the year because it's been so busy. But yes, I hope you get some rest Val!

Very cool seeing Obama. I have to remind myself that blogging is a hobby all the time. Sometimes after requesting too many book I actually hope o be declined so I am not overwhelmed. Oops! Have a great week!

It's cool that you got to see Obama, but I can completely understand why you might feel like once for that sort of thing is enough. Sorry you're not feeling motivated lately---I've been going through that a bit myself, especially with reviews. At some point, it starts to feel like I'm saying the same things over and over again, and even I get tired of myself!

Ooh, yay for seeing Obama!! But people were fainting at 80??? Omg. I'M SORRY. It's just that's the weather here and like I keep wearing long-sleeves because I'm cold. haha. #AustralianProblems. Ahem. ANYWAY TIS REALLY COOL YOU WENT!

And eek, twitter is basically quite acidic at the moment isn't it? I mean, not to say people shouldn't be speaking out! Because I think a lot of important things are being talked about that need to be. But at the same time, I think people are very easily being super harsh about all the things and there are so many "sides" and it's kinda scary. I wish there was more flailing over books instead of like 90% critiquing them. I reeeeemember the days when we all got really excited over books more. *sobs distantly* I'M REALLY TIRED TOO TBH. *sends you chocolate cover coffee beans* And congrats on not having an overwhelming November TBR!! I...do...but that's because I haven't read stuff from September. haha. #help.😂

(And I love your blog!! I hope things get better soon!!)
Um, I can't believe you saw Obama! Amazing. Seeing him speak is on my bucket list for sure. It's also been over 80 degrees here lately... I hope we both get some fall weather soon! I think that being involved and active in Internet communities is sometimes more exhausting than people might believe. I've been dealing with some mental health stuff this semester, and it can be exhausting sometimes to be engaged and social, whether IRL or online. I have to constantly keep reframing my mindset to view blogging as more of a hobby than anything else. Life just... happens sometimes, you know? I'm sorry you're not feeling as motivated lately! Sometimes if I'm feeling uninspired, it helps me to change up the medium of the content I'm consuming-- for example, if blog posts haven't been particularly inspiring me, I'll try YouTube videos or podcasts instead. Anyways, I hope you get some much-needed rest and relaxation soon! :-)
Ooooh how much I feel you, my dear. I feel the exact same way right at this moment. I want to just cry on my laptop keyboard for like, a solid hour, and then crawl into my bed for a week and a half. Thanks for the shoutout too! MUAH ♥♥ Also, still jealous that you got to see OBAMA!!!! Also, if you figure out how to convince yourself that it is a hobby, please tell me the secret, okay?

Also, I will NEVER stop reading your blog. Even if it isn't active, I will just catch the reruns. Of course. ;)

That's so cool that you got to see Obama! He really looks like this cool and laidback guy -- I'll miss him.

I totally feel you when it comes to motivation! Sometimes I really can't bring myself to do anything for the blog, and coming up with posts becomes a struggle. That's indeed when you remind yourself that you're doing this because you want to, not because you have to. ♥
