An Innocent Life #23: February Recap

I feel like this month just came and went so quickly, yet at the same time I AM TIRED. This year is just going by, and I am not ready haha.

This month I haven't been reading as much as I wanted to, but it's still more than 2017. This month I read 13 books instead of the usual 6 or 7 I used to average. I'm only a bit bummed that Holly is winning our little, friendly competition, BUT I always catch up and get ahead during the week. So I'll be ahead before you know it.

Prim looks so fucking thrilled.

Books Read This Month

Best Book: Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant
Worst Book: Speak of Me As I Am by Sonia Belasco

This month I only got to three sequels, but I finished one duology, and then another...series? I don't know whether to count companion novels as series, OR if there will be more companion novels in the future, but anyways I'll just say that happened.

Just last Sunday I attended my first ever book club meeting for The Handmaid's Tale, and it was a lot of fun! Unfortunately the next book is not something I'm interested in at all (The Giver, like ugh, didn't we all read this in middle school?), and so I probably won't be participating.

On the other hand I did just spend $40 on all the Saga comics. Except Volume 4 and 5. I'll buy those some day. ALSO during book club, I discovered there is this bookstore that sells all their used books for $1. How cool is that???

I did spend a lot of time just...working in February, and being tired and drinking 5 cups of coffee. BUT MARCH IS COMING UP AND I'M GOING TO BE SO BUSY.

How was your February?

13 is more than my very sad possible DNF. 😰

Also The Giver... I guess some people didn't read it in middle school? Or maybe they want a reread? Or they couldn't think of a book (even though we all know there are PLENTY of books).

Yeah I guess some people didn't, but I still feel like everyone has haha. AND THERE ARE PLENTY OF BOOKS!
13 BOOKS??? That is so very amazing, you can read so much in one month, it's crazy. I'm so glad to see Words in Deep Blue on here, I loved that one so much :)
Hope you'll have a lovely March! x

Yay I'm glad that you loved that book so much! It was really really good :D :D Thanks Marie!
HI VAL. I read this post already but you hadn't added the books you read section so I will comment on that! I am sorry that Speak of Me As I Am was not good for you. But YAY about Mermurder! I put Mermurder on my wish list since I was I guess too stupid or unaware to buy it when it was on sale (SOBS). Prim is so cute, I love her and her Resting Bitch Face, it's fabulous. Prim is just too damn good for us, and she knows it and she isn't sorry. How was Bone Gap? And Everything All At Once? And did you ever locate the books? I am actively DMing you and Idk why I didn't just ask all of this there, but I am so nice for commenting so there you have it.

HI SHANNON. I'm sad that you haven't read MERMURDER yet. because you NEED TO. And Prim is adorable as usual. Bone Gap was good, but confusing in the beginning. Everything All At Once was really good!! AND I HAVE THE BOOKS AS YOU KNOW. lol
Aww cute kitty. Into the Drowning deep was a trip wasn't it? Am I the only one who would have NEVER gone on that trip, considering what happened the first time?? I mean really. Queens of Geek I thought was pretty good, I liked the con angle.

I need to get caught up on Saga...

Glad you had a good reading month!

Yes I loved Into the Drowning Deep! I really hope that there is a sequel haha. AND YES I WOULD NEVER. Like I knew so many people were going to die haha.

Thanks Greg! And yes you need to get caught up!
Yay Val! It sounds like you did really well with your reading this month, that book club sounds like a lot of fun. I loved The Giver when I read it, but I don't know if I would going back. The Saga comics are the best! Which reminds me, I need to catch up with reading them...

Yeah I really liked The Giver back in 5th grade (and I even watched the movie lol). But I don't think I'll read it again, nope. And yes Saga is the best!
WOW! This month I didn't read as much as I normally do, I ended up reading 5 books, which isn't bad but not great. I'm hoping that it was just a phase and that it will finish soon, but who knows. Good post!

Thanks! 5 books is still really good :D

I'M STILL AHEAD OF YOU AND IT'S GREAT

I'm loving our competition. I'm almost at 50 already for this year.

I didn't buy all of the Saga, but I got volumes 1 and 2, plus a few other graphic novels. YAYYYY. I'm sure I already mentioned this, but I'm glad you had fun at your book club! But ew, why The Giver? Are they like trying to do classics/popular books made into movies or something?

I also spent a lot of February working, and I hope March eases up a bit with that. I'd like more time to do all the things like keep reading fast enough that you'll never catch up to me.

You are ONLY AHEAD FOR NOW. I'm always so close behind to you, you know :P

Yay I'm curious about the other graphic novels you got! Hopefully you love them all. I'm only missing Saga vol. 4 and 5 hahah, but I'll get them at some point. AND I DON'T KNOW WHY WE HAVE TO READ THE GIVER. Ugh. I don't know what we're doing, but I recommended The Hate U Give, and the girl didn't even put it on the voting list. Makes me mad.

I WILL CATCH UP TO YOU NO MATTER WHAT BUD.
Eeep so much reading!! And SO many good books (I'll just flail because Bone Gap is one of my ultimate favourites EEEP). And Prim!! What a delightfully 100% done face she has.😂 (Also what an attractive cat. I mean.)

Good luck with your busy March. *sends coffee cake*

Hahahha no she has that face A LOT. But she is very adorable at times. AND THANKS FOR THE CAKE. Well appreciated!!! Love that you loved Bone Gap! It was definitely an interesting read for me, but still good :D
