Top Ten Books I'd Love To See As Movies/TV Shows

I tend to gravitate towards TV shows, only because they allow for more depth and more dialogue compared to movies. And most of the times they aren't COMPLETELY butchered, haha.

Anyways, there are a ton of series I would LOVE to see transformed into shows, but of course I will not exclude standalones, because I would love movies of them too!
The Mediator Series by Meg Cabot - I would sell my soul to make this happen. Seriously, I am that obsessed with this series.

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer - I don't know if I've said this enough, but I am in love with this series. It has only gotten better and better with each book, and I think it could make the perfect TV show. Like Once Upon a Time!

Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor - I NEED THIS IN LIFE. Oh the special effects will be gorgeous.

The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater - The only way this could be pulled off is if the cast is perfect. It HAS to be casted right. (I mean I'll still watch whatever is come out, but it would be nice)

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas - I know I've only read the first in the series, but I think I could love it as everyone else has. AND ALL THE ACTION WOULD BE GOOD FOR A SHOW!

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein - I would die for a movie of this, and probably anything by Elizabeth Wein.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz - I think this could have great potential for a movie! Especially with all the contemporaries that are coming out as movies now!

Sabriel by Garth Nix - Rather than a TV show, a movie would be better because the series kind of alternates between new characters, AND this would make an epic movie!

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman - I actually think this would make an awesome yet creepy children's movie! I think Tim Burton should direct/produce it (Children and Tim Burton don't mix though ha)

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern - I read this such a long time ago, but it was awesome because CIRCUSES. And MAGIC. To sum up, it would be a good movie!

What do you think? Anything else that could be made in either a show or movie?

Also, I would like to mention that The Little Prince is already coming out with a movie, and here's the cute, international trailer for it.

And plus, I did not mention Way of Kings because I think that it would make a better video game instead!

Ah, Throne of Glass would be a perfect TV series! I can't believe I didn't think of that.
I think Daughter of Smoke and Bone and The Raven Boys would make great TV shows too - there's so much in them to be explored.
I had The Night Circus on my list too!

MISTBORN WOULD BE SO EPIC. Gah. I can see it now.
Great choices. I definitely can see some of these as movies or TV shows!
Code Name Verity would be freaking amazing on screen Val! Although I doubt I'd see it in theaters - I'd probably rent it when it comes out on DVD so I wouldn't embarrass myself crying in theaters - LOL. And Throne of Glass and Cinder both have such incredible action and characters and I think they'd also be great as TV series. Thanks for sharing Val and, as always, fabulous choices! <3 3

I AM NEVER EMBARRASSED WHEN I CRY IN THEATERS. Unless someone points it out. HA. Thanks Zoe!
A movie for "Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe" would kill my soul with emotions. So I can't wait until they adapt it! The Night Circus would have stunning visuals and illusions aaaah but I never imagined The Lunar Chronicles as a TV show. You do have a point when you say TV shows are less butchered but they can also be unnecessarily added to haha *side-eyes random nude scenes in Game of Thrones*

Oh and that Little Prince trailer looks so emotional and beautiful! I need to read the book for that asap.

That's true! Basically there's always a trade off between less scenes and more scenes when it comes to either TV shows or movies. I GUESS I just want ALL OF THESE to be the best that they can be.

I need to watch Game of Thrones, maybe. I watched the first few episodes but never really got into it because of time.
Ohhh my god I’d love to see all of those as shows (except the Meg Cabot one because I haven’t read it!). If they could be accurate and as magnificent as the books, then I would SO watch every single season available. But oh dear I don’t know if I could handle actually seeing Ronan Lynch on the screen O_O I'm honestly not sure who would be perfect to play Ronan!

I feel like NO ONE is perfect enough for ANY OF THE CHARACTERS
I'd love to see all five books as a tv show that you listed, even Throne of Glass that I haven't read but my best friend would be ecstatic if it was ever made into a tv show (or movie). The Mediator series didn't make it into my list but to this day that is still one of my favorite series. I think it was the first ever fantasy I've read, I might have this crazy fascination with ghosts thanks to it.
I haven't read anything from your movie list but I'll soon buy The Night Circus and I think it's time to finally read a Neil Gaiman novel. I feel like I'm the only person who hasn't read anything by him.
Lovely list. :)

I love the mediator series since middle school! <3 I read years ago though, I want to try it again since I don't remember some details. I thought it was a really good series, and Jesse won me over! Throne of Glass would make a good series as well, if it does I hope it has more action. Great picks <3

Ooh my gosh, I had never thought about it but Code Name Verity would be just the perfect movie!!! :O You're a genius!
And I need them to turn Cinder and Throne of Glass into movies!!! *-*

I've never heard of The Mediator series, having a look at it on Goodreads now. How did I never know about this? Val *taps foot*
I think DOSAB would make an incredible film series, but imagine it was on TV every week instead. I think it'd be too expensive to produce with all the special effects and location filming they would need to do. Throne of Glass would be absolutely EPIC. Even the thought of that makes me super excited. And it's a huge series too, I wonder why we haven't heard anything about it being a possible film franchise. I've seen even really crappy books with the sold rights to adapt them. We need to make this happen.

Great list Val, absolutely spot on! <3

What the heck Kelly?? IT'S BEEN AROUND FOR YEARS! IT'S ABOUT GHOSTS AND IT IS EPIC. At least it was for me years ago. I'm planning on collecting the series but so far I only have one book hahah.

Sigh. BUDGET CUTS RUINING US ALL.

I honestly don't understand how some books get rights sold, and others don't. It's saddeninggggg. :(
I am right there with you on the Mediator series! It would have to be someone amazing to be Suze though!

I can't believe I didn't think about Code Name Verity but you are 100% right, and now I really, really want to see that. Has it even been picked up? Get on it, world. I am not a crier but I would cry SO MANY TEARS if I saw that film.

Sabriel would be great, too. I haven't read those in years but I think I'd be totally down for a movie version.

I don't think it has!! I haven't really looked into it!
Ari & Dante would be a great movie! I'd love to see that one in film as well. :)

Code Name Verity would be an amazing movie! Ah, I can picture the tears already.

And I picture the Lunar Chronicles as movies. I felt like they were so fast paced that they wouldn't fit as a TV show.
My recent post Books we’d love to see as a TV series or movie!
Agreed COMPLETELY on a Lunar Chronicles TV show! That might be the thing I want most of all! Code Name Verity as a movie would make me cry so many tears but would be 100% worth them all. And can you imagine how visually stunning The Night Circus would be on screen? A production team could have so much fun with that.
These are fantastic picks, Val!
