Resolutions for 2016

It has come to my attention that the new year, is in fact, TOMORROW.

Were you prepared for this? Because I was not. 2015 flew by so quickly, so quickly that I still feel as if summer was just yesterday.

This year, I half want to make resolutions, and I half do not. Because those things end up lasting for maybe a month or so. But nevertheless, I'll tell you what I want to achieve this next year (In theory).

1. Try to not leave all my posts for the night before. Or if I do, make sure I actually WANT to post them, and not just because I need new content.

2. Eat a new type of cheese every couple of weeks or so. And start a new feature that pairs up cheese with books. Yes, I know. This is really random, but I love cheese. So I figure why not take it a step further?

3. Comment on posts that I am truly interested it, and not just comment to, well, comment. I've already implemented this into my blogging.

4. Utilize Creative Market freebies to create awesome graphics like the one above! If you haven't done so already (and you want to create cool graphics), sign up for the Creative Market weekly freebie email!

5. Do whatever I want, and not worry about stupid things like trying to find parking. Just DO IT. This involves overcoming my laziness. And involves being spontaneous. And not planning everything that goes on in my life.

6. Do not go to class or work if there is a huge snowstorm and the driveway and roads suck. Just don't.

7. Don't worry about surgery, everything will be fine. There's always going to be tough times, you just have to through it. Without struggle, there is no meaning to life (apparently someone said this, maybe. Or something along the lines of it I suppose.)

8. Have fun in my yoga class next semester! (This will be the best class ever, okay Dad? NO REGRETS)

9. Take no shit from anyone. Sorry not sorry. Tell people when they're being judgmental or mean even if they think they are not. Because they are.

10. Lastly, have fun with life. And that includes blogging too.

Do you plan to have any resolutions this year? What are they? Or does it not matter to you?

I think #2 is my favourite resolution ever. I can't wait to read your cheese/book feature!

I don't really do resolutions, but I do make general promises to myself in terms of being kind to myself, keep doing yoga, things like that.

All wonderful resolutions! #9 & 10 are my favorite. But #2 is by far the most different one I am sure I will see this year. I cannot wait for these posts because I love cheese too :)

I recently read a post from someone who wanted to pair up books and wine. I don't remember who it was, but you should totally get together because I hear wine & cheese is what fancy people have at their soirées I'm not invited to because I prefer pasta and cocktails (and also probably for other reasons but we shall not get into that). I can empathize with #5 SO MUCH. I will also try to do that. Not so much with #6 because... well, I usually have to convince myself to go to class or work even when there's not a snow storm, so...

Good luck with your resolutions! I did goals instead of resolutions, but looking at your list it's basically the same thing it just convinces my brain to actually try to achieve them :D Happy New Year's Eve to you!

Your resolutions are great! I'm inspired to get my act together and get some stuff written down. I'm especially looking forward to your cheese feature.

Also, that Creative Market tip is AMAZING! I downloaded the font from last week thanks to your post :)

I love your resolutions and I hope that you achieve all of them! I love how you added in your personal resolutions in your life as well. To be honest, I have set blogging goals but have been procrastinating setting personal goals bc...idk...I guess it's just a little daunting to create a list to stick to. But I definitely should!
Here's to a great 2016!

Cheese and books? Yes please! Oddly, one of my goals this year was to try out more cheeses as well because I think I had convinced myself that cheese was a much healthier snack than chips (I mean, it kind of is, but not as healthy as fruit, you know?) Anyway, I sort of stopped a couple of months in, so I definitely look forward to your cheesey guidance!

Also, thank you for introducing me to creative market. I totally signed up for it!

I am sorry that no one talked about your uteri, Val. I am here to do that. It will be okay. I promise. I know, how can I promise? Here's how: I am a HUGE crybaby, and I have survived, so you shall because you are NOT a big crybaby. Actually, you are pretty freaking amazing. Plus, while you're having a uterectomy (I know that isn't actually what is happening, but it sounds cool, don't you think?) you can think about ALL the amazing things to come this year: graduation, Florida, grad school (fingers crossed), yoga, ALL the cheese, and most importantly, MEEEE! (And everyone else at BEA.) Oh, and Lena- I can send her over to hang out with you post uterectomy. LOVE YOU. :*

I think I should also maximize the use of the freebies on CM. They give away tons of high quality goodies but I'm too forgetful to remember, haha. 10 is the best! Hope we have fantastic year ahead! <3

#6 will be completely irrelevant once you move to FL! I feel the same about resolutions... I usually forget all about them or stop caring, but sometimes it's nice to set some goals for yourself.

I absolutely adore your resolutions <3 especially the cheese with books pairing. I AM EXCITED FOR THAT. YOU BETTER DO IT. And I love you SO MUCH RIGHT NOW FOR INTRODUCING ME TO CREATIVE MARKET.

And if you're ever down or need to rant or just listen to random small talk and chatter, I happen to be very good at that <3 LOVE YOU AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

Happy new year! Val, I LOVE your resolutions! You must do this cheese thing because I NEED the book/cheese pairing posts! I really need to follow your example with #9...but I would probably just fail anyway!

I kind of always just have one resolution and it's always something to do with writing. I mean, I have other small things but they're mostly jokes, I only take the writing ones seriously, This is just to kind relax with my writing, not let it stress me out so much while still writing my heart out.

Good luck with these Val, hope you have an amazing year! <3

Creative Market's so good, right? ALL my graphics use their freebies :) These are good resolutions, too. Hell yes to being spontaneous (luckily I've gotten better with this). It's a good skill to have.

Haha I love the cheese idea, that's definitely something I've never seen on a book blog before! ;)

Creative Market is amazing. I love the weekly freebies, absolute lifesavers.

Have a wonderful 2016! :)

I love these and can't wait for the cheese pairings posts. I did yoga all through high school and really loved it. I always want to get back into it but I'm never quite *that* committed. Good luck with your posting! My main advice: build up a buffer if you can!

Surgery?!? Oh my gosh, Val! *sends loads of virtual hugs* I've been AWOL from blogging for far too long, I had no idea! You'll be okay! Promise :) I know those words aren't the most comforting, but you really will be. I LOVE the book and cheese pairing idea, btw! I can't wait to read those posts, and ooohh I've never heard of Creative Market before! Will definitely check it out :D
