Top Ten Books From My Childhood That I Would Love To Revisit!

I read a ton of books when I was a youngin', and yes, I would love to revisit them all because I barely remember the plot, or what made me love that specific book so much. BUT THEN AGAIN, I don't want to ruin the magic. So maybe I will revisit them in theory.

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke - Only my favorite childhood book of all time so of course it's going to be on the list. I also want to reread the entire trilogy, because I kind of didn't finish the last book in this series.

Matilda by Roald Dahl - I love this book, I love the movie, I wouldn't mind revisiting this at all because I know that it will still be amazing. Because Matilda.

Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell - I'm pretty sure I had to read this for summer reading in elementary school, but I absolutely loved it. Do I remember it? No. No I do not. But dolphins.

Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli - I'm actually very surprised that there is a sequel to this. The ending for Stargirl, at least I remember, really saddened me, so maybe I'll check out that second book.

Frindle by Andrew Clements - THIS BOOK. I think I read everything by Andrew Clements because they were just so fun. Like renaming a pen "frindle".

Hoot by Carl Hiaasen - I also reread this book numerous times throughout my childhood, this and Flush. Now that I think about it, Flush was more of a favorite.

The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine - So I kind of remember what happened, I know that it's about the plague, but it also involved magic and fairies?

Alanna: The First Adventure by Tamora Pierce - I READ EVERYTHING BY TAMORA PIERCE. Mostly everything haha. But I've been meaning to reread this series, because Alanna is awesome. The cover? Not so much.

Half Magic by Edward Eager - I remember the cover and the illustrations, but nothing about this book. Just that I saw it, every day, in elementary school. It haunts me.

Socks by Beverly Cleary - CATS. SOCKS. EVERYTHING I LOVE IN LIFE. Anyways, I love Beverly Cleary was also another author I read a lot from in my elementary school years.

I read a billion books in elementary school, even while the teacher was talking, ha. Any childhood books you would like to revisit?

Tamora Pierce's Immortals series (Wild Magic, Wolf-Speaker, Emperor Mage, Realm of the Gods) was the one series by her I was absolutely obsessed with. I don't know how many times I reread those books so I'd definitely want to revisit those!! Such great choices!!

I saw those on EW and I was like "YES LET ME REQUEST THOSE" but they didn't accept me hahaha. I mean they're at the library so its not a big deal but still. I haven't read that series yet, I think...maybe...I'm not sure hahah.

Thanks Alysia!
i must've been a deprived reader when I was child as I've not read any of these!

Haha some of these are fairly new (aka when I was a child) so its understandable.
I haven't read ink heart but my friend is currently reading ink death and apparently it has all the feels. I read alanna: the first adventure but the second series about Kel (I've read 3 books) is far better. I feel like I've heard of Island of the blue dolphins. I haven't read Hoot, the two princesses, or socks either. Maybe I'll check them out if I want something fun.

Hey I stopped at Inkdeath and I have no idea why! Oh I also tried reading that second series but I don't remember much from it. Yes you should check them out haha!
I’ve read… uh… two of these. And Stargirl I didn’t even get to till I was 17! But Island of the Blue Dolphins was a favorite of mine as well; it was one I was always rereading.

My sister loves all the Levine books; I guess one day I’ll go back and see what the fuss is all about :)

COME ON NOW KAYLA! Just kidding. I loved Island of the Blue Dolphins. I need to dig that out of my basement for a quick read because I barely remember it.

I've only read one book by Levine (this one) and there's more? What?
I love Matilda, I think it is the first book I fangirled over!

Thanks Kate!!! :)
I am sad that I haven't read basically ANY of these. Except maybe Matilda. But I think it was by force. BUT I loved to read when I wasn't supposed to. Pretty sure I still do ;) Great list!

Matilda is definitely awesome. And you should read it! It's pretty similar to the movie, with a few differences here and there. Thanks Tiffany!
I loved Matlida too, and I liked the movie as well! Great list overall.

Thanks Benish!
I love Matilda and Frindle. Both Roald Dahl and Andrew Clements were amazing MG authors, and I would read just about anything written by them. They both set readers' imaginations soaring, and that makes for the perfect MG book. My favorite Andrew Clements book is The School Story. It was what inspired me to try writing a book when I was in 4th grade. I didn't actually start writing that book until 7th grade, but I reread The School Story from time to time just because it's so adorable.

Yes I read a TON of books by Andrew Clements. Does he still write? Hm. I did read The School Story too, I think. I'll need to look it up to refresh my memory. But I read all that was in the library hahaha.
