Top Ten Tuesday #42

Hosted by the Broke and the Bookish!

Top Ten Books I Can't Believe I Haven't Read From The Fantasy Genre

If you haven't noticed by now, I absolutely love fantasy. It's the first genre that really got me into reading, well a branch of it at least. I really was into paranormal fantasy back in the day, and since then I've been looking for more and more fantasy books to read.

So I guess I'll just list all the books I haven't read yet from the fantasy genre!

Written in Red by Anne Bishop - So I JUST learned about this series, and it just sounds so freaking cool!

Abhorsen by Garth Nix - I'm really not sure why I have not finished this trilogy. I'm kind of waiting til I buy the entire series, but I have no idea when that will happen.

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken - This has been on my TBR for awhile, I've heard good things about it, AND it's about cool powers! Hopefully it lives up to my expectations!

Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff - Yay for Japanese fantasy! And steampunk! I kind of view this series as similar to Eon just because they're both based on Asian culture, and since I already read that series, I have to start this one!

Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo - I'm not sure why I keep putting this one off. I HAVE the this book! :P

Unhinged by A. G. Howard - I've already read Splintered, so I should probably read this sequel, yes? Especially since Ensnared JUST came out

Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch - Came out last year, so I'm kind of late to the party but then again not really. I'm waiting for library to have this one, so whenever someone checks it back in...should be soon.

The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani - I think this is REALLY interesting and would be fun to read. Of course, it would most likely involve me going into the children's section to borrow this.

Vicious by V. E. Schwab - BEEN WANTING TO READ THIS FOREVER. I'm preordering her A Darker Shade of Magic though, which I am VERY excited to read.

The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland... by Catherynne M. Valente - I AM TOO LAZY to write out that whole title! But it's the second Fairyland book. BECAUSE I LIKED THE FIRST. I'm waiting for it to go on sale or something. Maybe I'll just borrow it from the library.

Yay I hope I get to these soon! What genre did you choose?

OMG OMGOMG LETS SEE

You MUST read Vicious, I read it on my holidays away and it was completely AMAZING. I want to re-read it again!

The Darkest Minds has been on my TBR for a while too, we really should buddy read it together sometime!

Stormdancer was more high fantasy than YA, but still really fascinating nonetheless, especially with the Steampunk sections.

WRITTEN IN RED IS A MUST READ.

Great list Val!

I can't believe I haven't even started the Splintered trilogy or the Fairyland series. I haven't started Leigh Bardugo's trilogy yet either. However, I have read Snow Like Ashes, and it was absolutely fabulous. I can't wait for the next book, Ice Like Fire, which is coming out this year.

UNHINGED! Yes, you really do need to read it ;-D That's the only one from your list I've read! I've read Smoke and Bone, but haven't continued on with the trilogy yet. I need to read Written in Red, Snow Like Ashes, The Darkest Minds, and Vicious. Great list, Val! Hope you love them all when you read them :D (Especially Unhinged! Because... MORPHEUS!)

I highly recommend Vicious and Abhorsen! Read them!

Several of the others are on my own TBR list. I need to start the Grisha trilogy (I own all three books - just need to pick them up) and continue with the Fairyland series (I've read the first book and own the second two).

C'mon girl, you need to read Siege and Storm! Though I have to admit, that's the only one on your list I have read! Pretty sure I'm going to cave and read Vicious sometime though because of all the love!

I can't wait to start Snow Like Ashes too, it's just finding the time to slot in a read. I was never much of a fantasy fan, but since reading Red Queen, I've been reading more and more. Currently eating Heir of Fire at the moment. Being the fantasy fan that you are, now I know who to hit up for some more recommendations. Lovely list poppet <3

VICIOUS. OH VICIOUS. I don't care WHAT you do in the rest of 2015 so long as you read Vicious ASAP. I wasn't expecting to like it because it's adult and I wasn't sure how I would feel about that but I LOVED it. There is so much about that book that is absolutely stunning, and I'm trying to get my mom to read it too. Ugh I could go on forever about Vicious.

Also, Shadow and Bone / The Grisha series by Leigh Bardugo is really good! The world is very interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Also, the antagonist will break your heart into a thousand pieces. I felt for him more than anyone in the series come the end. :(

Snow Like Ashes is a book I'm not 100% sure I'll read any time soon. I've heard a lot of mixed things about it (like that it's too close to Throne of Glass), and I want to read it after the hype of it has died down a bit so I can form my own opinions.

Great list :D

What's Written In Red!? The name alone intrigues me, I must go look it up...

I need to read a lot of these too, Fantasy is my favorite genre but I feel like I'm so behind on it right now! I definitely recommend School For Good and Evil, it's a really fun book. I read about half of Seige and Storm a few months ago and haven't picked it up since...oops. =)
