The State of Happiness

Happiness. Everyone wants it. But how do you achieve such a state?

If you've come here looking for an answer to that question, then you have definitely come to the wrong place because I have no idea how to be happy overall. But even while saying that, I'll have to say that the little things really count towards my state of happiness. And I have a lot of little things that make me happy. Which is why when I spotted this tag on Nirvana's blog, Quenching The Quill, I knew I just had to do it (To be honest, I failed to find out where this originated, unfortunately).

Warning, answers might be long, because as I said before, I have a lot of things that make me happy.

Songs: Nights Like This by W. Darling, Just Our Style by Wayfarers, Make Up Your Mind and Queen of Peace by Florence and the Machine, Say My Name by Odesza, I Found by Amber Run, Sharks In The Swimming Pool by Clairity

Books: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, Golden by Jessi Kirby, Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride, The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater, Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein, Aristotle & Dante Discover the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz

Going to be honest, I don't read many happy books, so here I put the ones that really touched my heart, and not necessarily the ones that are happy. Also, these are the books that I would be really happy to just have around me. Like The Book Thief. I would bring that everywhere with me.

Films: Kung Fu Panda, Wall-E, Peter Pan, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Whisper in the Heart, The Cat's Return, Wreck-it Ralph

Pretty much all the animated movies out there. And don't forget The Book Thief movie, because why not. Also, my roommate is currently watching Interstellar, and that movie made me bawl. So it's not exactly happy, but it's so good. Also, I'm not a movie type of person, and I often forget what I have watched, so that list may not be accurate. Except Kung Fu Panda.

Words: Skipping out on this one because I have no idea. Babies? Squish? Fluff? I've never been a ...word person.

Scents: Grapefruit, Cranberry, Cherry, Pine, Christmas, Pina Colada, Apple, Pomegranate

Miscellany: Being surrounded by books, candles, warm summer nights, the beach, my amazing blogging friends, my friends in real life, my video games, video game soundtracks, quiet and silence, donuts, french fries, cereal, milk, cheeseburgers, dogs, cats, bunnies, babies, toddlers, children, pandas, swimming, maple syrup, flowers, movie theater popcorn, anime, my bed, warmness, comfy chairs, juice-like alcohol, cheese, hot tubs, photography, my blog, and all you guys.

Awww this is such a sweet post. It's refreshing to take a minute and just reflect on the things that make us happy. I love that you listed Christmas a scent. My happy smell is the laundry smell. This might sounds strange, but especially the laundry exhaust that comes out of buildings.

Anyways, great post!

Hahaha Christmas is a really great scent! It is! I really like the candles at Bath and Body Works that are pine tree smell? Do you know what I'm talking about? And I LOVE LAUNDRY SMELL TOO! But not the exhaust. I don't even know what that smells like! xD
This is such a cute post omg~! :D
I definitely agree - it's the small things that count! And we need to remember that more often <3
Songs, books are two things that make me happy as well! It also makes me happy to eat many different types of food - food is my life as well! Particularly biting into a brownie - that feeling and the flavour explosion is just wonderful~
Great post, Val! :D

Hahahha thanks Geraldine! Oh I love biting into a squishy, chewy brownie! And then there is also some crunch to it as well. It is great, and yummy :) Now I want a brownie
Aw yay such a positive post!! I think it is great to think of all the things that make you happy because they probably outnumber all the negative things!! I totally agree with all your ones for scents!!

Thanks Grace! And they definitely do! Though I really wish summer would come soon, because there are so many more happy things about summer! Winter is just blah. So much snow!
Aren't you a little cutie?

I agree with so many things on here, like donuts. I could seriously live off donuts. The smell of pomegranate too ^_^ But I have to say my personal favourite smell is creme brûlée. I'm just listing food...and now I'm hungry.

I AM A CUTIE. THANKS ELY

I WANT A DONUT. I love donuts. And I have had creme brulee coffee (okay you and your accent marks), but never the actual thing, so I feel like I'm missing out!
AWW I love this Val!! You are so stinking cute, you little nugget. You'll also be pleased to know that I ordered several candles recently, and one is some kind of pina colada, and another may be grapefruit. So your nose and your need for small humans, I can fulfill those! Now I want some movie theater popcorn, a big old cheeseburger, some fruity alcohol, and obviously, a donut. In a hot tub. And then when we get too hot, we can go swimming. And then when we get tired of swimming, back to the hot tub. And so on.

Hehehheheh I like being stinking cute. OH I LOVE BOTH OF THOSE. I need to head over to Bath and Body Works and find a coupon and BUY ALL THE CANDLES. So yes. Omg I love that combination. Though I tend to never leave the hot tub once I get in, ever. <3
I love Spirited Away, too! I honestly can't watch it because it always makes me cry, too, lmao. I love how "quiet and silence" is a thing on the list, haha. Movie theater popcorn. YESSSS. Donuts, cereal, milk, French fries. Really everything I agree with. :D

Code Name Verity makes you.... happy?? BUT IT'S SO SAD (I see your paragraph below so disregard). You do have The Book Thief on there, definitely not surprised. Rudy and Liesel forever. <3 omg the OT5 makes me so happy, I love them so much. But The Raven King is sure to kill me. And NOT make me happy.

Peter Pan YESSSS. I also love Wreck-It Ralph. Such a cuuuute movie. Interstellar was pretty good too. Love grapefruit, apple, and Christmas smells.

"quiet and silence" everything I want in life. donuts, cheeseburgers, dogs and cats obviously, juice-like alcohol, comfy chairs (I'd also throw in comfy pajamas/leggings bc yes), photography and definitely my blog. all of these things make me happy too. no wonder why we're friends. :D
