Top Ten Tuesday #62

Hosted by the Broke and the Bookish!

Top Ten Hyped Books I've Never Read

But I will soon! Because I have a lot of them. There are also a ton of hyped up books from this year that I just haven't gotten to yet because of time. And then I don't know, I just ended up never reading them! Darn.

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard - I won this book in a giveaway, and it was definitely my most anticipated for 2015, but now, I'll get to it someday?

An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir - I bought this when it first came out, but I just ended up not reading it! Especially with all the hype it's gotten over the past few months. Hopefully I get to it in my Readathon!

Divergent by Veronica Roth - I think I've said this multiple times, but I'm just not interested in this or the trilogy at all!

Paper Towns by John Green - I used to want to read this, but now all the hype from the upcoming movie is just not working for me.

If I Stay by Gayle Forman - I just never was interested in reading this, though I did have it on my Goodreads TBR before it got super popular.

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi - I think this is the leading book in my Readathon poll? So I'll definitely have it read by the end of the month!

The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski - I'm hoping I'll get to read this during the Make Me Read It Readathon!

Uprooted by Naomi Novik - I've seen this EVERYWHERE in the blogosphere, so of course I want it! Also the hardcover is gorgeous.

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart - Apparently this was a 2014 Goodreads winner! But man I don't know, I'm not really feeling it at the moment. And it takes place in Massachusetts.

Life After Life by Kate Atkinson - This is a book that's been hyped more by bookstores, Barnes and Noble specifically. I do want to read it, especially after reading Joy @ Joyous Reads review of it

Yeahh...life happens I guess. I just don't have all the time to read ALL the books!

Weirdly enough, I didn't enjoy most of the book you have on the list. Coincidence? I think not. :p Really though, the only exception is If I Stay and Life After Life (which I haven't read) so I'm going to HIGHLY recommend it and urge you to read it...BUT THERE ARE SO MANY NEW BOOKS TOO! I feel you.

YOU HAVE TO READ IF I STAY AND WE WERE LIARS. I liked them both a lot! So you know, more the reason that you read them. :) I haven't read any of the others...

I have read Red Queen and Divergent. If you saw the Divergent movie, you aren't missing much in the reading. The movie was so spot on, I felt stupid reading it after seeing the movie. I haven't read anything else on you list, we got a lot of the same. Great list!

I wasn't a huge fan of We Were Liars. I was actually disappointed. I'm sorry I don't get the hype.

I hope you actually read the ones you're interested in!

Yes girl I need to read Uprooted too! It's everywhere LIKE IT'S FREAKING HAUNTING ME OR SOMETHING I SWEAR. And yes Red Queen!! READ IT.

I’m experiencing the same thing with An Ember in the Ashes! I’m almost afraid I won’t like it now, since I’ve heard it uses rape as a plot device :/ BUT I WILL PERSEVERE.

YAYYY YOU GET TO MEET WARNER. I’ll be waiting for your Shatter Me review ;)

Great list, Val! I've read 4 from your list: Divergent, If I Stay, Paper Towns and Shatter Me. I can understand ignoring Divergent because of all the (over)hype. I liked it but it wasn't a favorite. Paper Towns... ugh. Did not like it At. All. I did really enjoy If I Stay and Shatter Me. Both are books I would recommend. I have no desire to read We Were Liars. Oh my goodness, I got so tired of hearing about that one last year! LOL I have The Winner's Curse but just haven't read it yet. One of these days... :)

I hope you do read Winner's Curse. I loved it, very interesting world building and some good angst. The only other one I have read is Uprooted, and GET YOUR HANDS ON A COPY! LOVED it. so. much.

We Were Liars made my list as well. Even though I own it, I just don't know if I'm ever going to get to it... the hype last year was just too much. And the reviews were so vague because people didn't want to give away the twists. So meh.

Divergent is fine, We Were Liars was fine (I'm one of the few people who doesn't have a super strong opinion on it either way... it's definitely a different read), but I really enjoyed The Winner's Curse! I haven't read any of the others yet so I can't speak for them!

I feel really proud of myself right now because I've read every single book on this list except two (Paper Towns and Life After Life)! #Accomplished

To be completely honest, I was a definitely black sheep when it comes to An Ember in the Ashes, Red Queen and Uprooted. While I didn't completely dislike those books, they didn't really strike a cord with me either. :/ But I hope if you end up giving them a try you like them as much as everyone else seems to!

BUT OMG VAL. You MUST read The Winner's Curse and We Were Liars. They are both two of my favorite books of 2014, and I hope you end up loving them as much as I did once you get copies of them!

Thanks for sharing and fabulous review!

We Were Liars is one of my favorites. I didn't much enjoy Divergent, though I loved Insurgent so much as well as the movies. I also didn't enjoy Paper Towns much.

Hun, you have books to read!! I personally really enjoyed Red Queen. It was so cliche yet fun and absorbing. I'm pretty sure I read it on a snow day this year and didn't get up until I finished it. The Winner's Curse has such beautiful writing and a searing romance. I hope you enjoy it! AEITA is such an epic book, although I fear the hype makes it out to be something it's not. I know it's hard to go in without prior influence from others... :/ Nice picks!!

Uprooted is great! I enjoyed Red Queen, it wasn't the best book ever but so enjoyable and fun. The winner's curse is pretty good too.

Shatter Me: YES. Do it. ASAP. The Winner's Curse is also a must, but I am giving you until a few weeks before The Winner's Kiss comes out, okay? Just make sure you are ready to read that with me ;) I loved Divergent, but Allegiant was such a train wreck, you'd be just as well to skip it. We Were Liars... well, I know everyone else likes it but I didn't. Not horrible, just "meh". I really loved Paper Towns, and If I Stay was good. I need to read Red Queen too. And Uprooted!!
