Olympic Book Tag!

First off, thanks to Shannon @ It Starts At Midnight for creating this tag! I have been watching a lot of the Olympics lately, all thanks to my friend providing me with NBC streaming. Without it, I probably would be going about my day as if nothing were going on.

I was actually not a lazy bum this time and managed to link all images to their corresponding books. Also all images belong to Shannon of course.

Pretty much hooked after the first sentence, because it was that good. The writing just drew me right in, and honestly, I'm not even that big of a fan of detailed, dense writing. But Nevernight worked for me!

I wouldn't say Mosquitoland is your typical road trip book, but it is one of my favorite books. And Mim takes a bus and does take a very long trip with her companions so I'm going to say it counts.

This is the part where Holly screams at me for not continuing this series. Sorry! I promise one day I will aha.

This book. I had absolutely no idea what the point was. What was it? Did everything just go over my head because to this day I am still confused.

I actually quite enjoyed this book featuring a cruise. It makes me want to go on one, though not a cruise of death, just a normal one. With an open bar if possible.

I already have Nevernight up there, so let's use the author's other book! Basically all you need to know is that practically everyone died. And it was glorious.

Everyone talks about how big the plot twist is in this book, but I don't know, I saw it coming a mile away. (I can't seem to think of any books at the moment with great plot twists. Other then, again, Nevernight which I have already used.)

This reminded me so much of Still Alice, which is almost like the adult version of this book. This book made me sob, I mean not as much as The Book Thief, but nothing can beat The Book Thief really.

This is so very slow. I know some people love how slow paced it was. But others, like me, weren't such a huge fan.

This will forever be my childhood book. It will hold a place in my heart forever. I remember I used to read and reread it over and over again.

There's something about talking, sarcastic cats that I just can't get enough of. I loved Mogget in the Abhorsen trilogy. Very excited to reread this soon!

This is my most recent DNF, and mainly because I just wasn't in the mood for another high fantasy. Maybe I have outgrown the genre? I have no idea. I'm sure I'll get back to it one day!

Hands down one of the greatest friendships of all time. And saddest. Because I live for those sad WWII books.

Have you been keeping up with the Olympics?

It really is! Thank you Jazmen!
Oh I haven't been keeping up with the Olympics at all. *sobs* Every time I do get around to watching it's like hockey or something...nothing against hockey, BUT I WANTED TO SEE SWIMMING AND GYMNASTICS. I wouldn't be surprised if they're all over now. Wah. Ahem. Aaaanyway. I loved your picks! I get this serious feeling you loved Nevernight. ;D I can't wait to buy that one omg. And The Memory Book = 😭😭💔💔 But I still loved it! And ooh that makes me nervous about Flamecaster. You're the second person now who's told me it wasn't any good. Gah. I really loved Seven Realms so I'm still going to try it. But with low expectations?!? *chews nails nervously*

I did such a good job with keeping up in the beginning, but now I'm just...I don't know, I guess doing other things hahah? WHAT THE HECK HOCKEY IS THe bEST. Actually there's one more week hahah.

I haven't read the original (?) series Seven Realms, so I think you will like it more than I did!
I love this tag so much!! I am obsessed with Olympics and making my kids watch it with me whether they like it or not. I've heard so many people that didn't get Wink Poppy Midnight that I took it off my TBR. I don't have time for that. I bought Mosquitoland and can't wait to get to it.

I hope you read Mosquitoland soon! And yeah Wink Poppy Midnight was just really really weird. I don't even know how to explain it.
Haven't been following the Olympics at all, I'd rather be following more Olympic book tags like this! Great list!

Hahah that's a good idea! Thanks!
This is such a fun tag! I loved Flamecaster and disliked Nevernight, so I might have switched those two, but this is great list.

Thanks Karen! I'm sure I would have liked Flamecaster! I just wasn't in the mood I suppose!
Wait, trampolining is an Olympic sport?! Whaaaaat. I have missed this in all my watching! But yes, this year I have watched way more Olympics than usual, and I'm loving it! Especially Michael Phelps and Katie Ledekey in the pool!

IT IS! I haven't watched it yet, I'll have to check if it is on the NBC website! Which is why I have been watching alot of Olympics :)
Great list! How funny, And I Darken was long, but it felt like I flew through it. And I still need to read Illuminae

Thanks! I hope you get to Illuminae soon!
I confused myself because I have read your post, but then didn't comment on it, but didn't remember if I did. Because I am insane. Anyway. I love it! I second Holly's insistence that you keep going with Kiss of Deception- because I enjoyed both books, and am almost done with the 688 page third one and haven't been bored AT ALL. Which never happens for me. So that's a win. I need to read Nevernight. I wish I could afford Nevernight, basically ;) I also need to read Mosquitoland, And I Darken (because maybe I WILL like it!), Loose Ends List, and Code Name Verity, but at least I already own those xD Also, Illuminae is kind of perfect!

OH! I know why I thought I already commented on this! I am not insane! I DID, in its preview form, on Twitter! Yay, I am only moderately losing my mind :D

YOU CAN'T COMMENT ON THE PREVIEW. WHAT WERE YOU DOING?

I know I will be getting around to The Heart of Betrayal, I just have so many other things to read at the moment ahahah. I wish I could afford Nevernight too. I don't know when I'll end up getting to it ugh. CODE NAME VERITY <3
I DIDN'T comment on the preview, I commented in our DM. Jeez, nice that you pay attention, Valerie :p And let's find a rich friend to buy us all Nevernight, mmmkay? Great.

Yeah, Wink Poppy Midnight was such an odd book. Definitely not for me either. I just picked up Nevernight and it's brilliant! I have And I Darken to read, but I'm kind of preparing for the slowness. A shame to hear about Flamecaster which is definitely on my TBR as well!
