Top Ten Tuesday #53

Hosted by the Broke and the Bookish!

Top Ten Books I Will Probably Never Read

These are the books that I say I will read just to appease you guys, and then I secretly never read them. Ever. I mean, fine, never say never. But honestly the chances of me picking up ANY of these books are slim to none. Muhahaha.

Divergent by Veronica Roth - Seriously, I am fine with not reading this in my life. I know a lot of people love it, and I know I said I would try reading it. But honestly? I have no motivation.

Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard - I actually have this first book in the series on my kindle, but I don't like drama. And I don't know.

The Maze Runner by James Dashner - NO I DO WANT TO READ THIS. It's just that it's not something I feel like picking up. And the hype over it is NOT HELPING.

Talon by Julie Kagawa - I know I was anticipating this last year, but after all the reviews, this isn't something I even want to pick up. Sadly.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - Seriously just stick me with a ton of books that have a lot of hype in the YA world and I still won't read them. Also, I hate the cover.

Paper Towns by John Green - Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

If I Stay by Gayle Forman - Again, lost motivation because of all the hype.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn - This is a book where you either watch the movie first or read the book first, and I watch the movie, and because that ruined it for me, I'm likely to not read the book. Ah well.

The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion - From the days when I first started Goodreads.

In A World Just Right by Jen Brooks - I recently read some reviews, and I wanted to read this before, but now it just seems pretty meh. And I think I would get all ragey on it instead of actually enjoying it.

I think there are more books I wouldn't read now, but I would one day in the future. What books will you never read?

Have you seen The Maze Runner movie? I actually really enjoyed it and it's the reason I'm not continuing on with the series (the movies look way better). Don't bother with TMI to be honest, it's not worth it.

I more than approve all your choices but please, you need to reconsider Cassandra Clare books, they're awesome!

I agree with you on Gone Girl! It's exactly my kind of book-as I love dark and twisted stories-but since I now know the twist,it won't be as intense as I hope it would be.But I am planning to read Gillain Flynn's other works,as they sound equally dark and awesome.

I actually liked The Maze Runner. I spoiled myself on the last book and am outraged so... Yeah, don't read it. XD I've actually tried Talon and it's so annoying, but it's Julie Kagawa, so I'll still probably give it another shot someday. SOMEONE WHO AGREES THAT THE TMI COVERS ARE CRAP! Because they are. I liked books 1-3, but 4 & 5 were horrendous. HATED If I Stay. It was so boring. But read it just for book two, because the sequel was so amazing and my tears were insane. If sort-of cheating and creepy romances aren't your thing... Yep, stay away from In a World Just Right. >_<

I swear up and done I'm going to read If I Stay but yeah I don't think it's gonna happen. Great list, Val!
I could have included City of Bones on my list -- I just will never. I was forced into seeing the movie, and nah. Plus, I've heard interesting things about the author and plagiarism in the past, and she's just not worth it. I also have Pretty Little Liars on my kindle (was a daily deal!), but doubt I will ever read it. That was a wasted purchase.
My recent post TTT: The books we’ll probably never read
Divergent: If I had the choice to go back in time, I think I would have not read this one too. The first one is okay - if not a bit lacking in the world-building - but everything goes downhill from there. :|

The Maze Runner & City of Bones: To be honest, I loathed both of these, so I can't honestly say you'll be missing much if you don't read them Val. ;)

If I Stay: This is one of those "it's me against the world" situations. I feel like everyone has read this and loved it, but I just didn't. *shrugs* I struggled finding a way to believe that this girl was able to pick whether she stayed alive or died while in a coma, you know? That might just be me being fixated on a simple detail or just not being able to see the whole picture, but oh well. *shrugs*

Thanks for sharing, and great choices! <3

Honestly, I won’t blame you if you skip Divergent. I enjoyed reading it, but book three is like… eh. City of Bones though, if you can get past the angst, is actually fairly decent. But with how many books are out there, “fairly decent” doesn’t quite cut it ;)

The Rosie Project was funny! I hope you'll give it a go in the future.

I liked Divergent, but I don't know if I would like it as much now. I don't think you'd be missing too much. You definitely won't miss out on anything by skipping The Maze Runner.
My recent post Thoughts on The Deathly Hallows & the Harry Potter Series Overall
I loved Divergent to be honest. The thing is... it just went downhill from there that I honestly didn't care about Veronica Roth pulling off a certain ending. I think The Maze Runner went a little downhill from there as well - I actually abandoned the series for some weird reason (to which one of my cobloggers and his friend was simply furious about).

Staying away from Talon is probably a good choice on your part. Half of me wants to read the sequel, but the other half is literally saying not to.

OMG do not waste your time with Divergent or Pretty Little Liars, I regret it so much.
My recent post Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Will Probably Never Read
I think I added The Rosie Project to my Goodreads TBR and like you, forgot about it. However, recently someone pointed it out again to me and gave it a very positive review. Now I'm on the look-out for a) a convent time to read it and b) a cheap copy of it (or a library copy). Getting those two elements synced up will probably determine whether I end up reading it or not before the summer is out. SO MANY BOOKS SO LITTLE TIME!!!!
