Stacking the Shelves #8

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews and is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Won!

Thanks Kristen @ My Friends Are Fiction for hosting the giveaway, and thank you Random House for sending me The Fire Wish!

e-ARCs

The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma - Thank you Algonquin Books for approving me for this March 2015 release! I know it's so far off! I liked the cover, but other than that I have no idea what it's about. Also, I can't send this to my Kindle, because Netgalley hates me?? Idk.

Red Rising by Pierce Brown - THIS WAS A READ NOW YES I AM SO EXCITED.

Melt by Selene Castrovilla - So Paula @ Her Book Thoughts gushed about this, so I will read it as well. It's also Read Now on Netgalley!

I recently completed the ALS ice bucket challenge today, while also donating $10 to the cause. ALS, also known as Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, which affects around 30,000 people in the US, by slowly shutting down their motor neurons. For anyone who doesn't know about the craze in the US, it's basically where you either dump a bucket of ice water on your head and donate $10, or donate $100. I chose the former, and although it was really cold, I did have a lot of fun! :P
(for more info, check out www.alsa.org)

Also, I did watch The Giver movie that recently came out a week ago. All I can say is that the movie was pretty good, if you disregard the book. Oh well.

Thanks for reading! Feel free to link up us usual!

Ooh...The Fire Wish is so pretty! I wouldn't mind having my own copy on my shelves. :) Melt has caught my eye a couple times, but I don't think I'll grab an e-arc (I must practice resistance! :D ). Enjoy your new books!

Thanks Kaitlin! Hahah and resistance? Is that a thing! I've already convinced one person to get it, so I don't know how long you'll be able to resist the temptation!
Dammit, I forgot to list Red Rising on my Weekender post. So glad you snapped up a copy too. I've heard it's brilliant.
OMG, MELT! Another book based on OZ. I love, love LOVE The Wizard of Oz and recently read and adored Dorothy Must Die as well. I had no idea that there were OTHER related books out about OZ too. Oh gosh, I'm so excited I can barely get words out. Me no speak.

I must have it. Thanks so much for sharing Val, otherwise I would have never had know about this one <3

Hahahaha we all grabbed a couple thanks to Faye! YOU CAN HAVE MELT IT'S READ NOW ON NETGALLEY! GO GET IT :D Did you get it? Good! I can't wait to hear your thoughts about it!
Hehe..."if you disregard the book"...well ain't that true for like every movie adaptation EVER. okay, okay! Catching Fire was so close to the book I nearly cried. Just from the perfection of it. *sniffles*

Ohhh, I hope you like Red Rising! I read it SO LONG AGO. I kind of need to reread before Golden Son though. Can I just say I AM FREAKING EXCITED FOR GOLDEN SON?!! It's like one of my favouritest series ever and totally not like every other dystopian out there.

Yes it is true. It is. Oh well. Catching Fire was really awesome though, I have to agree :D

I'm so glad I got a copy of it on Netgalley. I remember it coming out a long time ago, and I was too new of a blogger to review an ARC of it. BUT NOW. NOW I WILL READ IT. Maybe they will have the sequel on NG too?
Ooh--Fire Wish! I want to read that! I also have Melt. It sounds so good.

I knew Giver would deviate so far from the book. Ugh! I just knew it!

Hahaha I know right? It was maybe kind of close to the book, but the MC was 16 years old instead of 12, and also romance was added :P
Fire Wish has a great cover. Looks like you got some interesting reads from NG/EW this week. Enjoy your new books.

I got a copy of The Walls Around Us too! :D I love Nova Ren Suma's writing, so I am so excited to see what she puts together in this one!

"All I can say is that the movie was pretty good, if you disregard the book." Haha! My thoughts exactly! ;) I was pretty disappointed by how much it deviated from the books (and they messed up the ending! *raises fist*). Oh well...

Thanks for sharing Val, and happy reading! <3

I have never read anything by her, so I'm also excited. Also, idk if you'll see this, but can you only read this ARC on the computer? It won't let me send it to my kindle :(

Hahaha I read the book in middle school, so I FORGOT what happened. I don't remember the ending.
I saw that too! I found a way to convert it to a .pdf and .mobi file so we can both read them on our Kindles. :D I'll email you the files. Gah...why do they have to make this so hard? :/

The ending is THE BEST part of the book; it's so thought-provoking. *sighs*
Oh, I so should have requested The Walls Around Us. It sounds so good. I still have to read Red Rising too, I don't know why I keep putting it off. And I haven't heard of Melt, but after checking it out on Goodreads, it is going on my TBR! Ugh, I was so afraid that The Giver was going to be like that. I mean, how could it not with a "love story" and a 25 year old playing Jonas? Maybe I'll watch it after it comes out on DVD, I don't think I am ready for that yet. And yay for you for doing the ice bucket challenge! That is awesome! Hope you have a great week and enjoy your new books :)

You can still request it I think! It doesn't come out until March 15th, so not for a long while. And I'm kind of excited to read Red Rising. Though I have read mixed reviews on it.

And yeah, I knew that The Giver wasn't going to be a good adaptation. But I did like how the beginning was in black and white because no one could see in colors.
Congrats on winning The Fire Wish, Val! I just bought it and I'm excited for it. :) The Walls Around Us has such a pretty cover, but I read the blurb and I'm not sure if it's for me. So let me know if it's good, okay? :) Red Rising has been getting so much praise, but again, not sure if it's for me! D: Melt looks really good--will check it out on Goodreads first, then I'll check it on NG! :D

The Ice Bucket Challenge--yeah, I'm not sure I'd be willing to dump ice water on my head. O_O I am sooo scared of the cold! And I want to watch The Giver already!

Thanks for sharing, and happy reading! :D

Hahaha I think I just requested it because of the cover! I didn't really pay attention to the blurb. I'll let you know what I think of it! And I'm not sure of Red Rising either, but I still want to read it to find out!

AIMEE DUMP ICE ON YOUR HEAD! haha. It wasn't that bad though. It lasted for 2 seconds.
Congrats on winning The Fire Wish! I love the cover, and a hardback, even better. :D I personally find paperbacks easier to read, but there is nothing prettier than hardbacks on bookshelves. Enjoy all your new books! And thanks for the hint about Melt, just had a look on NetGalley. It sounds soooo good!

Thanks Alma! I love the cover as well, and I love the whole thing about jinnis! Hahah and no problem! I'm glad to share books still on Read Now!
Oh, congrats!! The Fire Wish book looks awesome! It's on my TBR but I have it too (ebook) so will end up reading it too sometime. Hope it's a good one for both of us :D I can't to know what you think of Red Rising. I didn't quite enjoy it but many did.:P

Happy reading!

Yes I will end up reading it soon too! And I also have seen mixed reviews on Red Rising (and I sometimes get it mixed up with Half Bad), but I still want to try it out, because it was freeeeeee
