Top Ten Tuesday #14

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Top Ten Books I've Read So Far This Year

I've actually read 28 books so far, which is a huge improvement for me from the previous years. I have my goal at 35, but by the end of the summer, I'll definitely be around 50, WHICH WILL BE AWESOME. I love reading books guys :D

I'm going to separate it into two categories. The first being books that I knew I was going to love, and the second being books that surprised me and won a place in my heart.

the awesome, and ones I totally recommend and love:

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell - The whole first love theme is just too cute.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer - YES ONE OF THE BESTS OF THIS YEAR. I'm super excited to read Scarlet!

Lirael by Garth Nix - Ahahah the Disreputable Dog. Awesome fantasy YA, and it needs more recognition!

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein - I literally cried my heart out. And also, Verity is freakin awesome!

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo - THIS BOOK! Also super excited to read Siege And Storm next!

Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor - The second book of this series was just as good as the first, minus a few angsty moments but oh well. Can't read to read Dreams of Gods & Monsters!

surprises that I did not expect:

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare - Not expecting this to be a historical fiction AND fantasy novel. I've never read TMI series, but this has definitely gotten me interested in all of her books!

Sabriel by Garth Nix - Someone recommended this to me and it has become one of my all-time favorites!

The Spirit Thief by Rachel Aaron - The same someone recommended this one as well, and I do not regret reading it at all! It was everything I wanted and more.

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell - The whole first love theme is just too cute.

Feel free to link up your TTT's below!

I'm back from my road trip, so I will be commenting tons!

  1. I'm always so surprised when I see that people are still discovering Garth Nix's Abhorsen series...and then I get excited because yay people are still finding this series and loving it! Lirael is definitely my favourite - Sabriel was totally badass, but teenage me who discovered these novels totally related to Lirael's angst. (And most importantly, there's the Disreputable Dog, of course)

    1. Yay! I only discovered them this year, and I'm glad I did! I absolutely love Mogget and the Disreputable Dog <3. I think I love Sabriel and Lirael equally, and I love how Sabriel makes appearances throughout the second book. I still have to read Abhorsen, AND THEN GARTH NIX IS COMING OUT WITH CLARIEL. :D

      Ahhh such a good series.

  5. Wow, I've seen Cinder on soo many lists today! It definitely seems to be a popular read this year. I haven't gotten around to reading its sequel yet, but I am looking forward to it. Shadow & Bone is seriously one of my favourite books I read last year. <3 And I keep hearing spectacular things about Rainbow Rowell, though I haven't read any of her books, yet. :)

    1. I absolutely loved Fangirl! I think I may have liked it more than Eleanor and Park though. My list of Rainbow Rowell goes like this: Fangirl > Eleanor and Park > Attachments

    1. Well, honestly. I DON'T KNOW. I think I need to read the other two books in the series, or at least the next one, to decide. I think I'm kind of leaning towards Will, but then I also really like Jem, AND JUST augh. I don't know Abby you're making my life hard right now.
